Retro Glamour Photography of Mark Anthony Lacy, from Mark Anthony Lacy

book-review-panda

Hi, there! As you may have realized by now, I had a severe problem of lack of self-control during my debut month at Edelweiss with so many books available to be read at the spot, haha! Schiffer Publishing was my main victim, as they seem to publish all the non-fiction subjects that I love reading about and some! This time, I’ll talk about a Photographic book: Retro Glamour Photography of Mark Anthony Lacy, from the man himself.

I’ve received my copy from Schiffer Publishing through Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review, so let’s go =D Thank you, guys!!

While candy-colored pinup may be popular with some, this is a collection of dark, sexy images that truly reflect the sophisticated side of the pinup genre. Seemingly ripped from the men’s magazines of yesteryear, these photos are so authentic looking down to the smallest detail as if they were actually taken decades ago. Bullet bras, seamed stockings, high heels, and girdles bursting at the seams! Leave the cutesy stuff behind. Internationally published photographer Mark Anthony Lacy specializes in bringing out the allure and sensuality of his female subjects. He combines his backgrounds in art, architecture, film, and photography to create incredibly authentic vintage tableaus in his New York studio.

Future Leaders of Nowhere, from Emily O’Beirne

book-review-panda

Good day, dearies! Welcome to my review for Future Leaders of Nowhere, from Emily O’Beirne ❤ One of my reading challenges for this year was reading more lesbian themed books, as everyone on all galaxies knows how I love me some gay romance and I’m so happy to be finding good romances in the field *–*

I received my review copy from YA Bound Book Tours in exchange for an honest review and here we go!

“Finn’s solid. Not in body, but in being. She’s gravity and kindness and all those good things that anchor.”

“Willa’s confusing. Sometimes she’s this sweet, sensitive soul. Other times she’s like a flaming arrow you hope isn’t coming for you.”

Finn and Willa have been picked as team leaders in the future leader camp game. The usually-confident Finn doesn’t know what’s thrown her more, the fact she’s found herself leading a team of highly unenthusiastic over-achievers, or coming up against fierce, competitive Willa. And Willa doesn’t know which is harder, leaving her responsibilities behind to pursue her goals, or opening up to someone.

Soon they both realise that the hardest thing of all is balancing their clashing ideals with their unexpected connection. And finding a way to win, of course.

Future Leaders of Nowhere is a contemporary LGBT YA story for older readers about what happens when two natural leaders are pitted against each other in a leadership game while on camp in the Australian bush. Future Leaders is about friendship and romance, and about learning when to take charge and when to let go.

Match Made in Mondays: switching points of view!

Hello, there! A wonderful Monday for you! ❤ If you follow me here on the blog for a while, you are sure of two things: a) I love Ava March; and b) I participate of my dear friend Audrey’s Monday-ly meme, Match Made in Mondays! If you head to her blog, Forwards and Bookwords, you can check how to enter and play with us! 😀

This week’s theme is:

CHARACTER’S POV + THIS BOOK/SERIES: What book or series would you love to read again from a different character’s point of view?

For the first time in my life, I won’t start my answer with “I don’t know”! =O

Sometimes, when I read a book, I actually think of how it would turn in other character’s point of view and could name a large number of books here, but honestly? The one I wanted to have read the most was Midnight Sun, Twilight’s book from Edward’s point of view.

from my Instagram 🙂

Maybe, if I have read all of this one, Edward could have explained to me why did he fell so hard for a girl so awful like Bella. Or why in hell he thinks it is cool to put high school on repeat over and over, haha!

I still hope that someday Stephenie Meyer will stop being a whining child and just finish writing this book. It’s not like she will ever have another success again, anyway. (I am being resentful, I know. But just look what happened to The Host. #justsaying)

That’s it! Thanks for reading! Would you read it Midnight Sun if it was really a thing??

TOP 3: Vampire Books

Hello, there! Today there is a NEW SECTION OPENNING AT THE BLOG, OMG!

But why? Oh, you see, I’m not the kind of person that, upon asked, can easily say that just likes one book of X genre or one author from Y genre. I simply can’t, I don’t know how to choose, so I created this section lamely called TOP 3. Every two weeks, I’ll select a topic, like today’s Vampire Books, and talk about three elements of it 🙂 Let’s get started!

TOP 3: Vampire books

IMG_3014

  1. Demons of the Ocean – Justin Somper (Vampirates #1)

Goodreads’ blurb:

Twins, Connor and Grace, find truth to Vampirate shanty their father sang to them before he died, after they are shipwrecked and separated. Connor, aboard a pirate ship, learns to swordfight. For Grace, aboard a ship of vampire pirates, danger is great. What will it take for them to find each other?

What I thought: This book series is meant for elementary school individuals, but I don’t care. I didn’t finish it, but no other series had such perfect elements or major cliff hangers than this one. Besides, are you a cowboys person? Or a pirates person? Maybe you may prefer vampires? You have all three on these books, so you, like me, is safe.

A Pirate Cowboy Vampire for me, waiter!

  1. Interview with the Vampire – Anne Rice (The Vampire Chronicles #1)

IMG_3034

Goodreads’ blurb:

Here are the confessions of a vampire. Hypnotic, shocking, and chillingly erotic, this is a novel of mesmerizing beauty and astonishing force—a story of danger and flight, of love and loss, of suspense and resolution, and of the extraordinary power of the senses. It is a novel only Anne Rice could write.

What I thought: I had a strong vampire phase on high school, as it was when the Twilight movies erupted and all, so I read lots of books from this theme then. This was one of them and it is FREAKING AMAZING. I love gay romances and the way that Rice plays with the reader about the Louis/Lestat relationship got me hard, haha! I need to keep reading this series, as I only read this book and The Vampire Lestat, but I already can say that I love Anne Rice and she has the best vampire couple in town, haha! Ps: I prefer to pretend that the movie never existed, as I don’t agree with casting matters, sadly. Sorry, Brad and Tom. I’m fine with Kirsten, though.

Thanks, sweetie ;D

  1. The Awakening – L. J. Smith (The Vampire Diaries #1)

IMG_4415

Goodreads’ blurb:

A Love Triangle of Unspeakable Horror…

Elena

Searching for the ultimate thrill, she vowed to have Stefan.

Stefan

Haunted by his tragic past, he struggled to resist her passion.

Damon

Driven by revenge, he hunted the brother who betrayed him.

The terrifying story of two vampire brothers and the beautiful girl torn between them.

What I thought: Worst blurb ever. I’ll do a decent review for this book series in 2016, but it is awesome. 5 out of 5 stars! I know many people prefer the TV show (which is totally okay, as it gave us Ian Somerhalder, among other hot men), but I love the book series to this day! I read it on high school, months before the TV show was out and I became oh-so-obsessed.

why-are-you-so-obsessed-with-me

I don’t know what came into me, sorry, but even after watching the series (which is amazing!), I still love the books.

Taylor-swift-shake-it-off-haters-gonna-hate

That’s it! Thanks for reading! Which is your favorite vampire book or series? 😀
