Last Wish, from Helen Harper (Highland Magic #4)

(alternative title: INTEGRITY, I’LL BE GOOD, BUT PLEASE DON’T LEAVE MEEEEE)

Good night, lovelies! I know you all are too gracious to have ever noticed, but I can be slightly crazy sometimes – for example, I was sure that Last Wish, the fourth and last book in the Highland Magic series (#tears), from my goddess Helen Harper, would only be published on Dec. 6th. Guess what? THE DEAL IS TODAY!

minions-what-scared

I don’t even know why I thought it was on the 6th! Honestly, I wonder what goes on inside my mind most of the time, ugh. Point is, you all get to see my opinion on this wonderful (spoiler?) conclusion sooner! Helen sent me a copy of Last Wish in exchange for an honest review and here we go!

Oh, no, scratch that, please. First, in case you aren’t living on the same world as I haven’t checked out my reviews for the previous books in the series, you can do it first:

Gifted Thief (Highland Magic #1) | Honour Bound (Highland Magic #2)

Veiled Threat (Highland Magic #3)

Now we’re good =) Let’s start!

the story

When Integrity Aidar decided to play dead for the sake of her master plan to bring down her sworn enemy, Aifric Moncrieffe, no one told her the deed would be so. Annoying. Do you know how hard it is to run a reform without being able to be seen by pretty much anyone outside your clan? Integrity can tell you: a pain in the ass.

And let’s not forget the damn prophecy that dictates she’ll save the world. Or the fact that her crush, Byron, seems to be already arranging a weeding despite just watching Integrity ‘die’. Talk about a turn off in the relationship.

Among so many uncertainties and pressure, there is only one thing Integrity knows for sure: she is so screwed.

Bookish News: all the interesting things I’ve learned while on hiatus

Good morning, stars! It’s me, the book blogger – sorry if you expected the moon, our lady is asleep right now. I was organizing my e-mail this weekend and realized there are TONS of bookish news I’d like to share and comment with you, but mostly are from my hiatus (a.k.a. old news). As a journalist, I can’t sell you this information as fresh, because mostly aren’t. Also, I’d totally spam your inboxes with so many things I wanted to tell you all, so I decided to do a huge post (spoiler alert?) with all the top news I’ve learned and squealed over during my recluse days.

On the future, I plan to transform this into a weekly deal. While we wait for that particular miracle, I’m going to ravish about all the good stuff I’ve learned through the past two or three months =) To make navigation easier, I wrote this post in topics, sorting the authors alphabetically by their first name! #ocd #sorrynotsorry

This post has news about: Anne Renwick, Bonnie Dee & Summer Devon, Elaine Ashford, Helen Harper, Jeff Adams, Jordan L. Hawk, Linda Oaks, Mark C. King and Melissa Foster!

Anne Renwick

  • The Silver Skull (The Elemental Web Chronicles #2)

I’ve stumbled upon Anne Renwick’s books a couple of weeks ago and signed up to her newsletter. I’m crazy about newsletters of any kind, so I had to add hers to my collection ❤ Last Friday, she revealed the final cover for the second book in  The Elemental Web Chronicles, coming out on January of 2017: The Silver Skull!

the silver skull.png

As you can see, I’m in love already and we haven’t even reached the blurb, haha! The book doesn’t have a profile on goodreads yet, but you can take a look on the first volume here and visit the author’s site here for more information on the series =)

Bonnie Dee & Summer Devon

  • Delaney and the Autumn Masque (Victorian Holiday Hearts #4)

My divas released their newest book on October 3rd! Delaney and the Autumn Masque is the last book in the Victorian Holiday Hearts series, with a steamy gay romance for each special holiday of the year! I already own books one and two, but I have failed my goddesses and haven’t started the series yet. #shameonme But I shall and soon, as their books are too good for me to go without =)

A spicy harvest treat from Devon and Dee.

Hired to entertain at a fancy dress ball, the magician is struck by the lurking, dramatic figure of the Grim Reaper. He follows Death to a quiet room for a glorious, lustful encounter.

With his identity hidden, impoverished gentleman Bartholomew Bancroft dares to indulge in an out-of-character moment to quench his forbidden yearning for another man’s touch. But in the light of day, he can’t dismiss his memories of the mysterious magician or a craving to see him again.

Bartholomew enlists the dexterous conjurer to teach him to pick pockets. His plan: to retrieve his hand-crafted jewelry taken by a vengeful ex-lover. During the lessons, Bartholomew and Delaney yield to desire, certain their affair will last only until they retrieve Bartholomew’s stolen work.

At another costume ball, the gentleman and the magician work together to foil the thief, but when all masks are abandoned at last, can lasting love remain?

  • The Mighty Have Fallen {coming soon!}

Bonnie told me about her new solo work on our last e-mail exchange (yes, most of my favorite authors have to put up with me being a pain in the ass on their inboxes) and now we have a blurb! =D The Might Have Fallen will be published through Dreamspinner Press on January of 2017. We don’t have a cover or a Goodreads page yet, so I’ll just leave this killer blurb here and, if you want to stay tuned on Bonnie’s news, sign up to her newsletter on her website =)

Elaine Ashford

  • Bodyguard Boyfriend

I’ve stumbled upon Elaine Ashford quite by accident by the end of March. I still hadn’t the chance of reading her books until this week, but she touches my guilty pleasure with her works: sugared gay romances. She released two books during my moping time, the first being Boyfriend Bodyguard, on Sept. 26th through Lovelight Press. A hot bodyguard and a secret relationship? COUNT. ME. IN.bodyguard-boyfriend

summary

A business relationship…

Pop star Adrian needs a new bodyguard as soon as possible, and the hottie the agency sends is exactly his type. At least visually. But Rob isn’t as dull as he seems and there’s a softer side to this ex-military man that Adrian didn’t expect.

Rob doesn’t care what his new boss thinks: he just wants him to be more careful. Adrian’s recklessness with strangers is going to get him in trouble, and make Rob’s job more difficult than it has to be. But Adrian’s sunny personality doesn’t turn off when it’s just the two of them in a hotel room, and this young star might be more charming than Rob knows what to do with.

Becomes more than a job…

Just because Adrian flirts like it’s breathing doesn’t mean Rob has to be any less professional on the job. Somehow, it’s happening anyway. When a couple of fan encounters go sour – and heart-pounding – Rob has to admit that he cares more than he thought.

Tumbling into bed together isn’t the problem, it’s figuring out how to date out of the public eye.

But how far can that go?

Falling in love means Rob cares more than ever about keeping Adrian safe. But not all dangers are so easy to spot. This time, it’s not some crazed fans: it’s a family matter. And Adrian wants Rob to keep out of it. Are Rob’s protective instincts going to drive them apart? Or is there a real danger out there, and will Rob be in time to save the one he loves most?

  • Junior Jolt (Straight College Guys #3)

Her second book released during these hard times actually went live on Monday, Nov. 21th, and you’ll see a review for it sometime in the next days. Miracles do happen and, somehow, Elaine included my name on her ARC readers list, so I find myself with a copy on my hands that I just finished last night! Despite this being the third volume in the series, they can be read as standalones. I’m sure I’ll end up buying all her books with the Amazon credits my relatives give me this Christmas, haha!junior-jolt

summary

Stepping up…

Hockey captain Parker Gagner is straight. Isn’t he? He’s always thought so, but there’s something so compelling about Eli Martin’s pleading eyes that it makes him step into an argument between Eli and Eli’s asshole ex-boyfriend without thinking. Pretending to be Eli’s new man is only supposed to be a protective gesture, until spending time together becomes more important than pissing off Eli’s ex.

Holding back…

Eli isn’t sure what to do about his growing attraction to Parker. They’re doing a lot of fake dating, and he can’t help wanting more. Making a move is out of the question, though, unless he wants to risk destroying their friendship.

Crossing lines…

An unexpected late-night encounter leaves both men conflicted and avoiding each other. Can they find a way to talk about their feelings before it’s too late, or have they ruined their chance to really be together?

Helen Harper

  • Last Wish (Highland Magic #4)

I’ve met Helen Harper last year when I received Gifted Thief to review from the publisher, via NetGalley. It was love at first read and, almost a year later, Integrity Aidar’s journey reaches an end on the fourth book of the Highland Magic series: Last Wish. The book will be released on December 1st and Helen was awesome enough to provide me with an ARC, so you can expect the conclusion to Integrity’s adventures soon here too! Spoiler alert: I already finished the book, haha!last-wish

summary

It’s not easy pretending to be dead – especially when it feels as if you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. Between an unfulfilled prophecy, the demon-occupied Lowlands, the continuing power of murderous Aifric Moncrieffe – not to mention her constant yearnings for Byron – Integrity Adair has a lot to worry about.

Still, how hard can it really be to save Scotland, maintain her morals, get the guy and keep her sense of humour?

This is the fourth and final book in the Highland Magic series.

  • Eros (Olympiana #1)

Another wonderful news is that Helen and other 12 authors put together an awesome box with 13 books, called Urban Mythic: Thirteen Novels of Adventure and Romance, featuring Norse and Greek Gods, Demons and Djinn, Angels, Fairies, Vampires, and Werewolves in the Modern World =D Helen’s contribution was the first book in the series erosOlympiana, Eros. As you can imagine, it’s a retelling of the Greek myth of Cupid and Psyche and she was awesome enough to believe in me and send me a copy despite my offline struggles. Besides being grateful to the end of the world, I can assure you all that the book is great, as I already read it as well, haha! Now I only need to read the other 12 stories… Oops!

summary

William Shakespeare once wrote that, “Cupid is a knavish lad, thus to make poor females mad.” The trouble is that Cupid himself would probably agree…

As probably the last person in the world who’d appreciate hearts, flowers and romance, Coop is convinced that true love doesn’t exist – which is rather unfortunate considering he’s also known as Cupid, the God of Love. He’d rather spend his days drinking, womanising and generally having as much fun as he possible can. As far as he’s concerned, shooting people with bolts of pure love is a waste of his time…but then his path crosses with that of shy and retiring Skye Sawyer and nothing will ever be quite the same again.

I was dying for a sequel – too bad I have to wait until Christmas to buy the book. I had to settle for her other release, also in the Hexworld for now, haha!hexmaker

Linda Oaks

  • Fighting for a Chance (The Chasing Series #4)

I’ve met Linda through a fellow bookstagrammer last year, as soon as I started blogging and it was friendship at first e-mailing, haha! I’ve been eagerly following The Chasing Series since the first volume and I’m preparing a surprise to Linda: I’ve bought my e-copy of Fighting for a Chance and I’ll surprise-review it for her! =D It’s the least I can do for her to start repaying all the e-mails she already had to endure from me and to show her how grateful I am to have her friendship on my life and her books on my shelves. Melissa Foster

  • Tempting Tristan (Harborside Nights #3)

Melissa Foster actually is known for her spicy heterosexual romances, so you can guess how surprised and curious I was to learn she had released a gay romance on Oct. 19th, right?!! I just need to read this! And before you ask, nope! I haven’t had the pleasure of reading any of her books yet, but I’m sure starting through Tempting Tristan ❤ This is another series filled with standalones =)tempting-tristan

summary

Fresh off the heels of yet another bad relationship, Tristan Brewer is taking a break from men to try to figure out where he keeps going wrong. He knows his biggest fault—he leads with his heart, not his head—and that’s never going to change. But after several introspective weeks, he’s beginning to get a handle on things. That is, until badass heartthrob Alex Wells walks into his bar…

Alex has spent eight years in the army, months in a hospital bed, and far too long hiding his sexual identity. He’s guilt-ridden, damaged, pissed off, and up for a Silver Star for the incident that nearly cost him his life—and kept him from his grandmother’s funeral. But all he wants to do is live the life he’s always dreamed of and forget his stint with the institution that allows but doesn’t necessarily accept.

The chemistry between Tristan and Alex ignites from the moment they meet, and the more time they spend together, the hotter the flames burn. But the closer they become, the more Alex’s walls go up, and when the two walk onto a military base, Tristan finds out Alex’s physical scars aren’t the ones that run the deepest.

Veiled Threat, from Helen Harper (Highland Magic #3)

(Alternative title: the book that made me into “the crazy girl from the 15th floor” to my neighbors because it was too awesome for me to keep my emotions to a human level)

Hello, guys! How are you doing? Are you ready for September? I’m ready for December since March, so… YAY SEPTEMBER! Hahaha 😀 Moving on to the book we’ll be discussing today: third volume to the Highland Magic series, from brilliant Helen Harper: Veiled Threat! I finished this in May or June, but you know. Drama drama drama, laziness, job and no review at all.

life sucks and then it gets better and then it sucks again

But never fear, this will be fixed! I won my copy from the author herself in exchange for an honest review and I can’t thank her enough for the kindness. She knew I was dying without Integrity in my life ❤ (I know, that sounded so wrong, hahaha!) Thanks, Helen! You rock hard!

veiled threat

Oh, before we start, you may want to read the reviews for books one and two on this series!

Gifted Thief (Highland Magic #1) | Honour Bound (Highland Magic #2)

the story

Integrity can’t catch a break. After all the emotions of the Sidhe games, she got her ancestors’ lands back, but her problems are just beginning. There is something wrong with the local safety magic, her new place is glued to the Fomori entrance to their side of the veil, her crush’s father is still plotting to kill her and everybody thinks she’s building an army.

And to make things worse, her crush, Byron Montecrieff, is back to her life, as she needs to pay back a favor to another Sidhe family. Can Integrity focus on her mission, get the man of her dreams to believe that his father is a merciless killer and restore her clan’s magic?

There is only one thing certain on Integrity Taylor Aidar’s life right now: she needs vacation.

the analysis

Just remembering that those were my impressions and opinion as a reader 🙂

Soooo, if you knew me before my breakdown, you probably know I’ll all over the place when the subject is Integrity Taylor Aidar. She is my ultimate bookish bff and I can never get enough of her or this series! ❤ If you wanted a bitchy review, well… As two contemporary and respected thinkers would say…

the road to eldorado the stars can't do it not today

Sorry, guys! Without any further ado, this was a five stars read. Besides seeing my beloved characters once again, I also got to have chills at the unknown and almost die with the HARD twist right before the end. Also, it was the first time we saw the story from another perspective, as this series is told by Integrity herself. Which takes us back to the first person narrator thing: this was a case of deep and mad love for the protagonist that made everything work out ❤

Well, I’m tripping over myself on this review, haha! As I already talked about the narrative, I’m going to only add that Harper’s writing style – full of humor and clever remarks – is bewitching to the point that I talked back to the book when Integrity was mussing around, haha! And that was how I got known by my neighbors as the crazy girl from the 15th floor. My favorite part in the technical aspect is how Harper is able to give life to the book as a whole thing – not only for her characters. I felt it all reading this series and, with Veiled Threat, wasn’t any different.

perfection

The plot was by far the best of the three books. I felt on the edge from page 1 to 238. As I told, there is a huge twist in the end that I totally didn’t see coming and was crying before realizing what the hell was happening, oops! Have I already mentioned that Harper is a genius? SHE IS. I also love that, no matter how heavy things are, she always finds a way to break the reader’s tension, you know? She gives us time to digest all the bad things without being boring 🙂 I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! I don’t know about you guys, but I really feel the burden of a totally dramatic book from beginning to end 😦

feelings crowley supernatural

As it goes with characters, I liked the new ones that we meet and I must say that I’m a character hoarder. I mean, I love when you slowly pile up characters into a plot and everybody lives with everybody, haha! The more, the merrier, and that is how this series goes ❤ Integrity meets new friends, new villains and they are all there with her all the time, haha!

people come for me all the time they just dont find me tumblr
that’s Integrity for you, haha!

Hm, I can’t think of anything new to say about characters, as this is my third volume, haha! Integrity is still her clever and funny self, Byron is still a sexy bitch, his father is still a bore and everybody is still awesome, haha! #sohelpful #sarcasm

Now, can we just stop my drooling for a moment to appreciate the awesome cover of Veiled Threat, please? Seriously, I loved it so hard. I wish I had a paperback with this, haha! Maybe next year 🙂

Hmm, I don’t think I have anything else that is useful to say besides: YOU NEED THIS BOOK SERIES IN YOUR LIFE! Do you like fantasy? Dystopian? Awesome Geek references? Kick ass female protagonists? Sexy men? JUST RUN TO AMAZON AND DOWNLOAD THIS FOR GOD’S SAKE! I need people to fangirl with me over this series!!!!

Love you all and see you some other random time!

Honour Bound, from Helen Harper (Highland Magic #2)

Hi, there! I’m back with another breathtaking book that almost killed me with its cliffhanger, haha! I could only be talking about Honour Bound, the second book in the Hightland Magic series, from wonderful Helen Harper! I had read Gifted Thief in the end of January and fell in love with it [you can read my fangirl review here lol], so it was only natural for me to pin hard for the next book ❤ Helen was more than happy to include me on the reviewers team and send me Honour Bound in exchange of another honest review 😀 Thank you so much!!

The Story

After helping the Sidhe clans to rescue the source of their power, Integrity decided to play it low and live by her name instead of resume her thievery career with her crew and stepfather. Now they all lived in a small city and Integrity’s new job was to rescue people lost in the mountains.

All was well until one particular rescue, involving two Sidhe members of the Moncrieffe clan; Byron’s clan. To her complete surprise, the demon himself came to pick the lost members off and Integrity sees the perfect opportunity to start restoring her own clan’s domains and name: the Sidhe Games. The winner could ask for anything of the Sidhe council and have it.

Integrity just wasn’t prepared to face honourable games with so much lack of honour. And for the fact that she and Byron were more than frenemies now. Or for all the implications of the real activities held by Byron’s father, Aifric, the most power and dangerous man of all Sidhe.

anigif_enhanced-buzz-5351-1389581734-11

The Analysis

Just remembering that those were my impressions and opinion as a reader 🙂

I was dying to read this book since I finished Gifted Thief, but at the same time, I didn’t want it to end. Integrity is one of my best bookish friends and it always hurts to say goodbye to her… I wanted to have this review up by February 29th, the day of Honour Bound release, but I couldn’t bring myself to end it. I needed more Integrity on my life [haha]. I needed more of this world, of those characters. Hell, I still need more! I can’t believe May is going to take SO LONG to arrive! I need the next book right now! Oh, and before my mind takes me too deep into this lament, I’d like to say that this sequel left me as shaken as the first book and it is a five full stars title! 😀

The narrative style followed Gifted Thief’s tone: first person styled from the point of view of Integrity. I still can’t believe how well this worked for me, I’m really not a first person narrated book person lol Harper knows her business very well, I’ll have to check her other books out!

Integrity is one of the best narrators that I have ever encountered. She’s an ultimate nerd and loved a good pop culture reference just like all of us and tells jokes that are so incredibly bad that you find yourself laughing out of the stupidity of them. She also has the most amazing come backs for jerks or stuck up people. And all of this without losing her gentle nature ❤

yehey

The plot was simple, as it is a development of Gifted Thief, with a major problem at hand and many questions to be answered through the series. I loved how everyone had to tiptoe all the time in Sidhe society, as the intrigue and power games were never ending. I love a good gossip, haha! Also, it is the first time that we see how the Fomori demons really behave and I sense that things will get even more dark and dangerous on the next book. Chills!

i was born to darkness

The characters are still the highlight of Highland Magic series, starting with Integrity. There is a scene that other participants of the Games threat to rape Integrity and not even then she lost her balance and gave in to violent answers. I highly admire her for being so powerful and capable and still not taking full advantage of it to battle others. Not even Byron is that diplomatic – and the guy makes a run for his money. His personality still dazzles me and I do believe that the sex tension between him and Integrity could supply energy to all realms for generations to come, haha!

britney till the world ends sexual tension
something like this lol

The weirdest thing is that I’m not in a hurry for them to really be together, as I really like this frenemies relationship that they got. It is too hot, haha! I will love the moment that they become something real, but I’m happy with the wait – and believe me, this is really new and weird for me to be both saying and feeling, haha!

As a bonus, I took the liberty of highlighting some lines that explain why Integrity is the best narrator ever:

“I curtsied and wished him [Aifric] dead, before remembering that I was a pacifist and I shouldn’t ever wish for someone to die.”

“I sounded like a comic book villain. Maybe I should wear a cape.”

“Feeling like a character in a computer game, I prepared to run again. The only difference between me and Lara Croft, though, was that I didn’t have an automatic save or infinite lives.”

And, to deliver the final blow, this piece of dialogue between Byron and Integrity:

‘It’s me or you,’ he said.

I lifted an eyebrow. ‘It’s always me or your,’ I replied softly.

Overall, this series is taking a fantastic turn. If you like dystopian, magic, strong females, hot males and nerd references all over, just pick this up now!

February New Books!

Hello, there! Good afternoon to you and sorry for the tardiness of this post today. It took me so much longer to write it than I had expected, ugh!

Anyway, today is that time of the month when I pick my favorite releases according to Goodreads lists and my own researches, haha!

Without further ado, I present you with my February Hot Releases! Dad, if you chose today to catch up with my blog, take some notes ❤

This book sounds mind blowing! I wish I could put my hands on it.

17302879.jpg

I started to love ghost stories thanks to The Mediator series and even if it lost its position as the best one of its genre to Cemetery Tours series [link], I still need more!! #wishlist

Why almost all Meg Cabot’s covers are so crappy? For crying out loud, that is ugly.

21793182.jpg

My friend Mandy, from The Reading Diaries, introduced me to this book quite accidentally and it does sound cool! Now I want to read it as well ❤ #wishlist

  • Stars Above (The Lunar Chronicles 0.5, 0.6, 1.5, 3.1, 3.6), by Marissa Meyer

26215628.jpg

Hello, my name is wanton for historical romances. Add spying and beautiful distrustful males to the mix and you win my heart. #wishlist

23688792.jpg

This book sounds the perfect marriage between paranormal and sugared romance. I love both, so naturally I’m pinning for this one. Besides, have you seen this awesomely beautiful cover? #wishlist

25614810.jpg

I love almost non-fictional books, specially this kind. Also, the Borgias fascinate me, haha!

5c103b3b-3e14-4a88-8dec-ef93d446fd53.jpg

I can assure you that I have loved every book that I have ever read from Jordan. So what that they are only three? I already downloaded the first one in the SPECTR series and it is on my TBR shelf just waiting for it’s turn, so it was nice to know it has a brother, haha!

28496935.jpg

I love everything based on Sherlock Holmes. Just give it to me. Even if this story passes right before their retirement and may lead me to fangirl tears.

25746707.jpg

This book got my full attention on the first lines of the synopsis. Please, just grab me a copy of this jewel, thanks. #wishlist

25742250.jpg

What did I say about the historical romance deal? lol

26071594.jpg

Yes, two in a roll.

Dad, did you get the message? Over.

Thanks for reading and I’d love to know which releases you’re pinning for this month 😀

Gifted Thief, from Helen Harper (Highland Magic #1)

Hello, there! Today’s book is a sweetheart of mine. I received my copy of Gifted Thief, from Helen Harper, through NetGalley and I’m very thankful for that, as it was one of the best books in my life. The best part is that there is a sequel on the way! ❤ ❤

The Story

Integrity has to admit that she is not exactly the number one citizen on town. Since escaping the Sidhe domain when she was eleven, Integrity learned everything that a high class thief needs to know and she is the best on what she does.

The problem is that you can’t escape your past forever. Especially when it comes on the form of a beautiful and sexy man named Byron, that knows exactly what he wants from Integrity and worse: how to get it.

Now Integrity has a big decision on her hands: to bow to the wishes of the people that always have hated her and help them out or to leave the Sidhe to their own luck and watch their magic end millions of lives – and not just Sidhe lives.

The Analysis

Just remembering that those were my impressions and opinion as a reader 🙂

Honestly, this book. I don’t recall the last time that I fell so hard for a female main character as I did for Integrity. She had me since page one and never once lost me – which is a very important accomplishment, as the book is narrated in first person by her and I usually have no patient at all with the protagonists. But I connected in such a level with her, it was just like if I had found a new best friend. I actually cried when the book ended because there would be no more Integrity waiting for me on my e-reader (and the end was perfect, just saying). I don’t know how I’m going to keep breathing until February, when the sequel is to be released. Helen Harper did a hell of a job here and think every human being on the planet should read this book. If I could, I would rate it a million stars

tumblr_m2b01sJkRx1qzvz1ao2_500.gif

The narrative pace was first person from Integrity’s point of view, which started as an annoyance. You know, on the first page of chapter one. Then, I fell in love with Integrity in a fashion that I simply can’t explain. She was so strong, but so human…. But I’ll get there, haha! It didn’t bother me at all that I didn’t know what as happening with the other characters during the book and this is new for me. I always want to know everything and that’s why I bitch over first narrative styles. Harper was so badass on her writing style that I was happy with Integrity and crawling for more, haha! Seriously, I don’t promise an impartial review this time, because I simply can’t measure perfection.

with all due respect 🙂

The plot was wonderful. It seemed like it was simple, but there were so many twists and action that I never knew where I was standing with the people around Integrity – even with her friends. The way Integrity told us how things were was tons of fun. Harper inserted her reader on the story, making me feel like I was a voyeur to every scene, every dialogue. I’m in love.

For the sake of your sanity, I’ll first talk about the characters overall and then Integrity 🙂

tumblr_mk1p3bmUj41qmn01to1_r1_500.gif

Harper knew exactly what she was doing with her characters. They all are insanely well built and deep, even the ones that are not that important. You feel that they are emotionally human and real. Byron made his way into my bookish boyfriends list with his bad boy gone good way. To be honest, I still don’t know if he his all that good, but I shall have to wait until February to find out, haha! Jamie was a cutie, but not my kind of cutie. Taylor also was a hell of a man for raising Integrity as he did and I love him for that ❤ Also, there is Bob, the little genie in all his cuteness and mischief. This book has too many huggable characters ❤ There is also Lexi and Lily, the other nice girls. And Tipsy. O loved that this is the official nickname of this bitch, haha! I hated her, ugh.

Now, Integrity. Oh, Integrity. She was such a strong woman, sure of herself and of what she wanted… Even when she doubted herself, she was still in control of her emotions. Don’t get me wrong, she has her flaws. She does really bad jokes and has a bad timing in knowing when to shut up and stay low, but I am too enchanted to be bothered. Everything that she did seemed right, haha!

gifdinheiro_4

A really great point on this book (you know, besides all the other great things that I already said), is the semi-dystopian vibe. It’s the world that you know, but not quite. I loved the way Harper mixed magical races and what they could do in this book. Seriously, February won’t be here fast enough.

If you like strong main female characters, dystopian books, beautiful males, adventure and action with a touch of romance, just READ THIS BOOK.

5star

Thank you for indulging me until the end of this review, I love you ❤ You can find Gifted Thief both on ebook and paperback formats on Amazon.
