She puts a warm hand on my shoulder and squeezes. “Don’t you worry. Your true love is out there, and you’ll find him. He’ll be the one who listens and who you can truly tell anything to. That’s important, you know.”
Even though I knew she was trying to give me advice from the start, I didn’t think it’d be as profound as it is. She makes a really good point about guys. Toby is just a guy under everything. Yeah, he’s super cute and popular and he’s nice to me. But he’s not true love material. There’s no way I’d tell him anything even remotely embarrassing. I wouldn’t tell him my deepest fears or hopes or dreams. I’d feel stupid.
I actually kissed him earlier and haven’t talked to him since. That’s not love. That’s not anything close to it.
Oddly, I feel better now. So what if I humiliated myself in front of Toby? He’s just a guy I’m going to date in high school. One day I’ll meet my version of an Uncle Mike, and he’ll be the guy I can tell stuff to. He’ll listen and he’ll be there for me no matter what.
My heart warms up at the very idea of this mysterious man. In a way, I already have someone like that in my life, a guy I can tell anything to.
“Thanks Aunt Shawna,” I say, giving her a genuine smile. “That really helps me feel better.”
“Anytime, sweetheart.” She gives me this knowing wink and then begins closing down the register.
I head over to the front door and turn the OPEN sign over, then I lock the front door since I leave out the back on each night. I’m feeling better now that I have a plan for my future. Toby might forgive me for this award day, but he probably won’t stick around forever. I need to find a guy I can trust and talk to. A guy like Bennet.

I’m back with a review and one for a series that shook my ground hard earlier this year: Lovely Vicious, from the brilliant goddess Sara Wolf. This review is for the second book in the series, Forget Me Always, which I received from the Chapter by Chapter’s team in exchange for an honest review. As always, thanks so much!

There are really few things in the world able to ruin Isis Blake’s good moods. Being thrown to a wall and cracking her head open doesn’t even make her top 10 list – she’s doing very well, thank you very much. She’s just afraid her fabulous brain will root in boredom at the hospital her doctor insists she needs.
One of the top 5 things that do bother Isis Blake is Jack Hunter. Apparently, they were epic enemies at the most awesome war the world has ever seen, but Isis is sure she would remember such a beautiful and insufferable guy. She would never ever forget the most awesome war the world has ever seen as well, as she for sure would be responsible for it. To make things worse, Sophia, her friend met at the hospital, insists Isis and Jack not only knew each other, but also had something together.
Isis would remember such life changing facts, wouldn’t she? Besides, how is it possible for the dragon to fall for the prince?

Jack Hunter cares about really few things in life. One of them is Isis Blake – in fact, she is the whole center of his existence since the Halloween Party they attended together, before Isis’ attack.
For the first time in a long while, all Jack wanted was to make things right. To have peace along the most fabulous and amazing girl he’d ever met. However, it seems it isn’t his fate to find happiness: he wasn’t fast enough. He couldn’t save Isis. And now he had lost her in the worst way possible: she’s right in front of him… and remembers nothing of his existence.
Isis Blake may be the one with the head cracked open, but Jack Hunter is the truly messed up one. And then there is Sophia, closer and closer to the truth about Jack’s feelings despite all his efforts to keep loving her and only her.
Another war begins and memories can prove to be the worst enemies of all times.
Just remembering those are my impressions and opinion as a reader 🙂
To be honest, when I opened my ebook for Forget Me Always, I was afraid. You see, Love Me Never is one of my best 2016 reads and I was truly scared to my bones not to have all the feels back in Forget Me Always. As soon as I started it, I smiled and all my worries were gone: Isis Blake, one of my best bookish friends forever, was back and even in better shape than before.
The relief was huge and I’m afraid I may have highlighted the whole book with fabulous quotes, dialogues and general life wisdom from both Isis and Jack. You can feel their growth between the books and how much life burdens them, we finally can feel how heavy Wolf’s themes truly are behind all the brilliant jokes and ingenious come backs. We finally start to have some concret answers and still, Wolf shatters our world with another cliff hanger at the end. SERIOUSLY WOMAN, WHY KEEP PLAYING MY HEART LIKE THIS IF YOU KNOW I’LL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL MAY NOW TO FINISH THIS SERIES?!
Overall, Forget Me Always has that feeling of déjà vu all over it – you kind of know what’s coming and it’s heavy, but you don’t quite believe it and it’s a shock to find out anyway. Plus, quotes even better than Love Me Never’s and omg answers, and trust me when I say we really needed those. So, all in all, five huge stars!!! ❤
The narrative pace keeps fast and light despite all the dark themes and we are once again follow Isis and Jack’s points of view. The major change is that we see much more of Jack’s POV, as he isn’t a mystery anymore – he is just still part of a bigger one. I really liked to see more of him and understand his motives better, but nothing beats Isis Blake as a narrator – not even Integrity Aidar, I’m afraid. But I’ll get to this later, haha!
The plot was twisted, but not highly complex. I was able to guess at many revelations and uncover some secrets way before they came, but the way Wolf tells you the story, she makes you feel genuinely surprised to see you were right or to watch as your own face collides with the floor. Seriously, this book is. All. The. Feels. I’m in love.
As it happened with the first volume, the characters are the main attraction. Honestly, everyone is so complex! Not a single person here is only good or only bad – not even Avery, I guarantee you. Not even Isis. Everyone has a dark side, the difference is in how much and for how long they can hide it from society. Jack is the epitome of this case, as he looks like a cool and bored teen on the outside and almost has a case of double personality about him. Isis is his perfect match in more than one way, as she seems to be bubbly and obnoxious all the time when actually she has deeper scars on her heart that won’t never ever truly heal. Both of them show us there is never only one way out to cope with grief, with fear and despair. What you do and who you chose to be after your world shatters is what truly tells how strong you are and how strong you can become.
Now that I think about it, the whole purpose of the Lovely Vicious series is how your life choices impact on who you’ll be since your childhood; how there are things you will never be able to truly erase, no matter how much you try to set things right, how much you fight your demons and how much you run from life. Some things will always be a stain to your heart, to your head and your feelings, but it’s you who will decide how much you’ll stop living to keep suffering. Only you can truly free yourself.
Of course, having people to support you and to be there for you counts a lot. Seriously, sometimes it can be the difference between you keep breathing on a moment of weakness. But in the end of the day, no one else can decide how to live your own life: it’s up to you. And this is one of the scariest shits ever.
Sorry, things got a little heavy here, haha! I think this book just hits too close from home and it makes me think so much about my own life choices, oops! I’ll stop with the motivational speech now and keep talking about Forget Me Always – I’ll leave the motivational stuff for Sarah, because if you want to talk about deep, real and serious human problems, that’s how you do it.
Also, just out of curiosity, I heard a song yesterday while working that clicked in so nicely with this book I almost dropped all I was doing and started my reading session earlier, haha! I’m not sure how many of you are acquitted with the song Part II, from Paramore, but I promise it is the perfect soundtack to Forget Me Always ❤ To be honest, I’m really proud of myself for managing to stumble on find a perfect song for this book, as I rarely have this opportunity, haha! For the ones that don’t know this particular song or even this band, I question: where have you been on the late 2000’s? leave here the link to a lyric video for it I found at Youtube:

Soo, wrapping things up really quick because EVERYTHING happened at this review: deep reflections, quotes, fangirlings, songs that fit books, omg! I’m so sorry to make you come all this way down, but I swear I’m done, haha! All is left to say is: if you like contemporary YA, strong characters, a touch of mystery and pop culture references all over, you need Lovely Vicious in your life and bookshelves!

Hi, there! I know, it’s been FOREVER since my last manga review! I really need to manage my time better, haha! I promise I’ll catch up with myself soon 🙂 But mean while, let’s have fun talking about a very funny, cute and surprising manga series: Seito Kaichou Ni Chuukoku, from Monchu Kaori sensei!! 😀 (yes, it is a yaoi series… Again.) My review contemplates the series until volume 6 😉
Chiga, vice-president of his class, is obsessed with his president, Kokusai. The other guy is a magnet to pervs and weird people, so Chiga feels like is his duty to bodyguard for Kokusai.
What started as only a safety arrangement very soon grows into friendship with the undeniable pull of desire and passion behind it.
Can Chiga confess his true feelings for Kokusai? Will Kokusai accept something more?

First things first: HACHIYUMI, WE HAVE TO STOP STARTING UNFINISHED SERIES!! LOL This one I’m not really sure if Hachiyumi recommended to me or if I found it myself and filled her whatsapp with crazy fangirlings while reading and bossing her around for her to read it too, haha! Both scenarios are equally like to happen and I apologize for my eccentricities to all my offline and online turned offline friends, as I have no control whatsoever when I’m obsessed with something, haha!
Now, to the manga: it had me since page one. The art is so delicate and yet the males remain so manly, haha! I loved everything about this series! Oh, well, I don’t really loved that it takes so long for its chapters to be out and about, but one can’t have everything, right? Haha! The title starts light and funny and gets darker with each volume until you are grabbing your seat and eating your nails without being able to breath. For sure, a 5 stars series!
The narrative is manly from Chiga’s point of view, but we get to switch characters more as the series go by. I liked the main couple and Chiga is one of my favorite manga guys! Also, the relationships on this series are so real, with the difficulties, the love, the camaraderie and all… It begins with a very fast pace and it slows down as the story gets more complex.
Which brings us to the plot. It starts simple and revolving around Chiga and Kokusai, as they need to work out their differences and feelings to be together. As things go by, new characters are introduced and Chiga and Kokusai start to share their spotlight with other gay couples. This is highly common for long yaoi series and now I’m going to tell the big secret behind this.
The truth is… that the authors rarely know how many volumes their stories will have. The manga publishers are merciless and demand a good start for the series. If you make trough that and the public loves it, only God knows when they will allow the author to finish their stories. Don’t believe me and need examples? Okay.
NARUTO. The author had the whole story prepared, but when it was coming to the end, the publishers begged him to keep going as Naruto is a world-wide gold mine. Results? The story got boring, confusing and repetitive.
Back to Seito Kaichou Ni Chuukoku: it is still being published and I think that’s awesome, but once the main problem gets solved and Chiga and Kokusai start to go out, there is only a handful of things that one can do to keep the story going without falling for Naruto’s destiny and that’s why other couples take over. Either the story that Kaori-sensei had in mind came to an end and she is stretching it or she never had a plan for a long-term publication and is going with the flow.
Anyway, the characters and the art are the best assets of this series. The characters are so real, intense and funny! They always have some snarky remark to make and Chiga is incredible. Kokusai is more naïve, so Chiga is the skeptical with streets’ smart. I laughed aloud many times while reading Seito Kaichou Ni Chuukoku ❤
And there is the art, that is breathtaking and only keeps getting better, as Miss Xtina would say.

Overall, if you like yaoi, daily life titles, wonderful art and awesome characters, you have to add Seito Kaichou ni Chuukoku to your TBR pile!

Hello, welcome to my daily review! I know you’re all shocked at my rhythm, I am as well, haha! Anyway, today’s book is True Colors, the first volume in Landry’s True Colors series, by Krysten Lindsay Hager 😀 I’ve received my copy from YA Bound Book Tours in exchange for an honest review during the book’s tour time. Landry is a common teenage girl, with the common struggles of life in this age: having fun with her best friends, avoid the troublemakers at school and worry about her grades. Until one of her best friends, Ericka, pushes her and their other friend Tori into participating of a tv show selection –the American Ingénue, the most popular modeling show ever.
Even against all odds, Landry passes the first test and is invited to the second test. She couldn’t be happier until she realizes that Ericka and Tori don’t want to have anything to do with her anymore – and it wasn’t even Landry’s idea to go to the hearing in the first place!
Now Landry has to learn what true friendship means while struggling to not sound stuck up for her modeling gigs.
The Analysis

Since I participated in the blitz for the third book in the series, Landry In Like, I was pinning to start this series. It’s not my typical YA read, as I’m not that a fan of contemporary, but something about the series just caught my eye. I have to say that I expected to see more about the backstage of the start of a modeling career than all the teen drama that came along with it and that Landry let me down several times when it came to her choices, but overall I enjoyed this reading experience. I totally plan to continue reading the series, as Krysten has a beautiful writing style that sticks the reader on Landry’s life until the last page and I think that Landry herself has much potential as a character and I’d love to see her growing up into a strong woman 🙂 All considered, three stars!
The narrative was first person styled from Landry’s point of view. Surprisingly, this didn’t bothered me at all. I had nothing against Landry, but she made it hard for me to actually like her. I may have mentioned this one time or two, but I never had the patience with people that don’t know who they are or where they have come from (you know, existential problems. It’s one thing if the person lost their memories or something like that, but that wasn’t the case at True Colors).
In my defense, I suffered with bullying during high school too – to this day, I have panic attacks when I’m forced to walk among large gatherings of teenies, both male and female, and sometimes I even get nervous diarrhea episodes thanks to that. It’s been five years since I’ve left high school, so thanks a lot, bullies.
Anyway, my point is that I understand Landry’s feeling of being tossed aside and the insecurities, but I couldn’t forgive her for treating people poorly because of somebody else’s judgment. It’s one thing if you don’t like someone and doesn’t want to be around this person for this reason; it’s another entirely different thing to not be around someone just because someone says you shouldn’t. It’s a free country, people! And that was my biggest disappointment regarding Landry. She grew up a lot and even changed a bit during the story, but that’s where the stars got lost.
The plot was good enough, wrapped around Landry’s daily life and the start of her modeling career, but I honestly thought, by the book’s blurb, that True Colors would focus more on her professional ascendance and show how this impacted her social life, not the other way around. Don’t get me wrong, I love teen drama, it’s highly amusing, but I guess I expected more. Oh, well. It happens, haha!
As I said before, I didn’t mind Landry for good or bad, but she did let me down a few times. I really liked Devon and some of the other girls, but no one managed to catch my eye for long. That statement includes the boys, as none made it to my boyfriends list – but that’s okay, since I was a teen myself I was already into older guys. Like older than 20 guys. So I can’t really say anything here, the boys were just too young for me, haha! What I can say is that Hager built up the characters in such a fashion that made them real and likeable. Even the awful people like Ericka were fun to hate, you know? Like a sport. I caught myself smiling several times while I read the book, as it felt like I was one of the gossipers, haha!
The parts in which the modeling deal effectively appeared were very good as well, and realistic. I have offline friends that once were models, so I can speak up for that, haha! Sometimes, the most unexpected things happen in this world.
Overall, if you enjoy contemporary romances, gossiping, school drama and female power games, you really should read True Colors 🙂

Ahem.
This title was my second read of 2016 and first re-read. It’s the third time that I read this one shot. Yeah, it is good like that, haha! Without any more gibber jabber, I present you Dear My Mister, from Fumika Yamada-sensei!
Noah is a high school student that has a hard time speaking English. No matter what he does or how much he studies, he always stumble on the words and doesn’t understand a half of that is being said to him. In this scenario, it is only natural for him to seek a private teacher to help him out.
Noah’s English teacher has Japanese blood, but grew up abroad. Takamasa has a hard time in using the correct Japanese words in several situations, so he understands how Noah feels regarding his own English and wants to help him.
They just didn’t expect to fall in love in the process.
The Analysis

To be honest, this manga is not the kind that will take your breath away or make you crawl in your knees because you need more. It’s a quick and fun read with the perfect amount of fan service and a pleasant art to go with it 🙂 I really like it because it’s the kind of title that warms my hear every time I read. For me, it’s a five stars title, but you can consider it a four stars one as a regular view, as it brings nothing new for the reader.

Anyway, the narrative follows Noah’s point of view and I have no problems with that, as Takamasa is the smoothly gothic type of character. He is mysterious, but not in essence. I mean, you want to know more about him, but not because he is hiding something. Did I made sense here? LOL It’s pace is fast, as it is just a one shot volume, and follows Noah’s daily life at his English course.
Which brings us to the plot, that is that simple: boy falls for teacher that secretly loves him back and they get together, but have to face their own demons first. Common as it may be, I found it really nice the encouragement message of the author behind it all: with the right help and method, you can learn whatever you’d like to. In Japan, people usually have difficulties in learning proper English, as there is no “L” in their alphabet and the writing is so different. It’s nice to see Yamada-sensei encouraging her readers to not give up ❤
The characters are mainly Noah and Takamasa, although we see Takamasa’s boss quite often. She enjoys tormenting him for loving his student, haha! Noah was the typical shy passive, but Takamasa surprised me in the first time I’ve read this. I was expecting the typical forceful dominant, but he was cool about his bed role. Don’t get me wrong, he is the dominant all right, but he doesn’t feel the need of throwing Noah on the wall and doing him just like that, you know? He is romantic and patient and I liked this about him 🙂
The art is another aspect that I really like in this title. Yamada-sensei has a sensible and delicate draw, but without transforming her guys into girls, haha! This is even more perceptible on the cover image*:

Usually I am, but looking at hot men leaves me speechless. But not enough to write a single-page review.
Overall, this is basically a shoujo (a.k.a romance) manga with two boys: sweet and simple, to be read in a few minutes that you have to spare (or wait, or waste, your call, haha!).

Yesterday I had a hard time falling asleep, so I picked up this one volume manga at my Manga Rock app, Desire, from Maki Kazumi and Yukine Homani.
I only wanted to pass the time and, thank God, the plot wasn’t overly complicated or anything and the main character, Toru, was a cutie 🙂
Baically, is the story of two friends: Toru and Ryoji. Toru loves Ryoji secretly and Ryoji has a sexual atraction towards Toru, but none of them knows about each other’s feelings until Ryoji admits to Toru that he gets aroused near him.
Honestly, I didn’t like Ryoji. I don’t usually like forceful males in any sort of way and he was a total ass. Toru, in the other hand, was very sweet, he deserved better… In my Goodreads’ rating, I gave it 4 stars out of 5. It was nice, but I would have liked it waaay more if Toru had ended up with another character, whose name will be kept in secret, as I don’t want to give spoilers away 😉
I recommend it if you, like me, like a good yaoi manga and want to spend the time without much thought ❤
