  8. I love to write fanfiction. I’m currently finishing edits on a fanfiction about Elsa, from Frozen, and Jack Frost, from Rise of Guardians. I also am doing one with Aragorn and Legolas and promised a friend I’d write one about Orlando Bloom and Leonardo DiCaprio, haha! Let’s see how those go.
  9. My favorite part of the day is sunset. Sunset reminds me of decadency and ghotic romantic notions, haha!

I’m currently reading Spellbinder, from L. J. Smith, as I write this post, but I’m hopping that I’ll have finished it by Sunday, as tomorrow I’ll spend the day on the road and may be tired to read, haha! I think I’ve thrown something like 75 titles here, counting the books inside the mentioned series. Seems like a good start to guide my year, right??

That’s it, guys! Thank you for reading! Do you have an official TBR for 2016??

Happy New Year!

Hello, guys! Happy late New Year! I hope everybody has a wonderful 2016, full of realizations, love and health 😀

I’m sorry I’ve been absent those last two days – they were INSANE. I’m not usually a person with a very busy social life, so you can understand my own astonishment in telling you that I simply didn’t stay home during the day and arrived to fall on my bed, dead, right? Haha!

Anyway, I’d like to thank you for sticking around despite the weird first half of year of the blog, haha! I started The Book Adventures of Annelise Lestrange on Blogspot in May and changed to WordPress in June 22th. Since then, there were 1.495 pageviews, 633 visitors, 129 published posts and 123 followers by e-mail subscription – I think it’s almost 30 via WordPress only.

Guys, honestly. THANK YOU.

I started the blog to have a hobby to compensate my head from my dissertation and this became my life. I was never a compromised person online before – I had many blogs in the past that never got to turn a month old, I could never stick to a social media site before Instagram and now I can’t life without both the book blogger and bookstagram community. You are a second family for me, thank you for everything!

I don’t plan on making any big changes for now, as I already did it in last November. We still have weekly, fortnightly and monthly sections + book/manga/comic book reviews + special random posts. You can see those sections in detail here, but let’s do a quick recap:

Weekly sections

Match Made in Mondays meme

TBR of the Week

Manga of the Week

Fortnightly sections

Authors from my heart ❤ (Book authors and mangakas)

Monthly sections

Must-have edition of the month

Book haul + wrap up + TBR for the next month

New releases of the next month

So far, that’s what we got over here 😀 And there is a new thing: after I had the time to go back home and have a routine again, I’ll prepare a post with a partial balance of my bookish boyfriends since I started the blog. All men that I can think of based on my 2015 reads will be there. Later on, I’ll prepare a page to leave the list there and will do a monthly post with the updates to you guys before including more names there 😀 Do you think this will be fun??

Oh, and I’d love suggestions on new sections, posts that you want to see, anything! 😀 Just leave your comments bellow and let’s talk!

Hmm, that’s it! Thanks for reading once again and Happy 2016! ❤

from my Instragram again, haha!

That’s it, thanks for reading! Later, I’ll post a review for my most recently finished book, Secret Vampires, from L. J. Smith!

Merry Christmas!

Hello, there! Merry Christmas to all of you that, like me, celebrate this beautiful date 😀 ❤ If you don’t, enjoy this beautiful Friday! I hope everyone is having a great time and a wonderful Holiday!

I’m sorry I’m only saying this now, but I’m at my relatives’ place and computer/blogging time is seriously compromised, oops! Haha!

I can’t complain about my Christmas Eve or party, it was awesome! The food, my Family reunited after so many months apart… I loved it! Even the secret friend thing that I was totally not okay with turned up to be tons of fun. I guess it wouldn’t hurt do it next year as well! 😀

I won lots of Christmas presents, but mainly clothes, not books. I was dressing like a homeless girl on my last dissertation months, so my mom gave me many new clothes to start 2016 looking good, haha! It was nice, but clothes are not books. Which brings us to my “official” Christmas present: a gift card for a local bookstore and season 7 of Supernatural, Limited Edition package!!! *—*

from my Instagram

I got to love my younger cousin!

(cof and the older one that kindly lend me his computer for this post cof)

Also, I’d like to make a small reflection here. Several people that I know in the off-line world condemn Christmas as a solemly capitalistic Holiday nowadays, but I disagree. I with the market does what it takes to sell their stuff; if you fall for them, it’s up to you. For me, Christmas is all about being with my family, with people that I love and that love me back. It’s all about sharing and giving. If you receive back, much the better. We gathered around our dinning table yesterday and no one was busy in their celphones (myself included), no one was worried with the outside world or in a hurry to leave. It was all about us being together in such a beautiful day. And I’d like to thank my parents for raising me like this, for having taught me how delicious it is to be with family as much as you can.

As I’m Brazilian, we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving. So, at Christmas time, I thank for all the good things I have in my life: my family, my friends (both off and online), my personal achivements through life, for my dissertation’s success and, of course, this blog and its beautiful readers! Thank you all!

That’s it, haha! Sorry if I sounded a bit cheesy, but come on, it’s Christmas! Who cares about that as long as it was sincere, right? ❤ Hope your day is being as lovely as mine!

#12daysofbooksmas2 readathon: RESULTS!

Hello, again! Happy Wednesday for you 🙂

So, the #12daysofbooksmas2 readathon came to an end yesterday and here I am to collect war spoils and bury the dead, haha!

I’d like to start this report saying that this was my first readathon in life, so I didn’t really knew what I was doing, LOL. As I had 10 days, I thought it would be nice to pick a book for each day (spoiler alert: no, it wasn’t). As those 10 days preceded Christmas and my family’s trip, I thought I had the eternity to read the books that I wanted (spoiler alert pt. 2: no, I hadn’t). And as we had to read a total of 1.200 pages, I was insanely worried that I would never be able to read so much in practically two weeks (spoiler alert pt. 3: I was, haha!).

Keeping all of these impressions on mind, add the information that I graduated in Journalism to the mix. You may reach the conclusion that I have no time space notion, that I can’t do math to see that 1.200 pages totalize approximately 5 books of 300 pages each and that I just didn’t know what I was doing. You are totally right, haha!

But let’s go to the actual report:

Read books:

  • Cemetery Tours series, from Jacqueline E. Smith [review here]
  • Between Worlds, from Jacqueline E. Smith [review here]
  • After Death, from Jacqueline E. Smith [review here]
  • The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, from Anne Rice [review here]
  • Braver With You, from A. Hart [review here]
  • Roses of the Angel, from Kalee Marshall [review coming soon!]

Completed challenges:

Read a book with red or green on the cover: check, Roses of the Angel

Read about book that’s on your end of the year tbr: check, all of the read books were on my TBR of the end of the year

Read a book that takes place during the holiday season: check, Braver With You

Read a sequel: double check, Between Worlds and After Death

Re-read a favorite book: flopped…

Read a book with a movie adaptation (and watch the movie): flop

Read a total of 1,200 pages! Check, as I’ve read 1.595 pages, haha!

It wasn’t great, but it was lots of fun 😀 Can’t wait for the next one, when I’ll be wiser, haha!

That’s it 😀 Thanks for reading and accompanying my progress in my first readathon!

New feature: The Review Index!

Hello, again!

This is a quick post with an awesome update: I now have a Review Index! You may have already noticed it, as it is hanging on the top of the blog main page since the beggining of the week, but I was still making some ajustments, haha!

Now you can see all the reviews available on the blog for books, mangas and comic books all in one page, divided by cathegories and in alphabetical order of the authors last name 😀

If I could pick your curiosity, here it is the new page: Review Index.

The Partnerships page is still for received books only, but you will see those titles in the Review Index as well! ❤

That’s it, haha! Thanks for bearing with my small updates!

Real Neat Blog Award <3

Good afternoon, now! I hope your Saturday is still awesome, haha!

I was so honored to be nominated for the Real Neat Blog Award! How does my sweet friend Kim, from The Spines Breaker, came to find this blog neat, I shall never know, haha! LOL Thanks so much, Kim! ❤

Those are the rules:

Thank and link the person who nominated you. (thank you!)

Answer the 7 questions your nominator has provided.

Nominate 7 other bloggers and create new questions for them.

Kim’s questions for me:

  1. Favorite Winter reads?

My reading habits were never affected by season or time of the year – I don’t feel the need to read Christmas theme books now in December or beach themed books in summer (that is the currently season on my country, haha!). But I do prefer to read during winter than summer, as I don’t have an AC at my place 😦

  1. Winter hobbies?

Reading, eating pizza (I know, it’s pretty specific, haha!), watch cartoons on TV with a blanket on, drinking tons of hot cocoa… Yummy.

  1. Which country invented the toaster? Joking lol, Coffee or tea?

I highly prefer tea, as my stomach doesn’t agree very well with coffee for some odd reason. (And, if you insist, it was Scotland, haha!)

  1. Read at night or in the morning?

At night, as long as I can! 😀

  1. Your opinion on love at first sight? Or other book tropes (princess running away from arranged marriage, the nerd and the popular, the chosen one….)

I think that every cliché can be awesome in a book if well-worked. It relies on the writer to do the magic 🙂 I believe in love at first sight in books and I have a true fetish with nerd x popular, haha! The chosen one, on the other hand, I usually find a bit boring, but again, it’s up to the writer to do a good job convincing me 😉

  1. Most recent book purchase(s)?

My edition of Fangirl, from Rainbow Rowell, and this Barnes & Noble edition of Peter Pan ❤

from my Instagram
Peter Pan and Season 3 of The Vampire Diaries, haha!
  1. Do you have a December tbr yet? If no, what is your current read and how are you progressing?

I do! And, so far, I’m late on it, damn. My currently TBR pile is on this post and I’m afraid that I was too optimistic with it… My currently-read is Cemetery Tours, by Jacqueline E. Smith, and so far, it is awesome! 😀

Nominated ones:

  1. Jess, from Mud and Stars
  2. Audrey, from Forwards and Bookwords
  3. Nicole, from Away in Neverland
  4. Jeany, from JeanyJanez
  5. Jenna, from Jenacidebybibliophile
  6. Rosema, from A Reading Writer
  7. You! 😀

My questions:

  1. Which are your favorite book genres?
  2. Which is your Hogwarts house?
  3. Are you afraid of porcelain dolls?
  4. Do you read ebooks? What do you think of them?
  5. If you were cursed and would only be able to eat one single thing for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
  6. For how long have you been blogging?
  7. Which are your favorite social media communities or sites? (Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, etc.)

Sorry, I was kind of random, but all of those are serious questions, haha! If you are not in the mood or don’t like to do tags, that’s okay! I just wanted you guys to know that I love your blogs 😀

That’s it! Thanks for reading and thanks again to Kim for the nomination ❤

As to my TBR pile, I’m going to risk this one:

I know I am being too hopeful, but it’s my chance to knock my tbr pile of December for good, haha! Let’s see how I go! Oh, and I know there’s no signalized book with movie adaptation, I didn’t decide yet which one I’ll be reading, haha! Oops 🙂

That’s all about the readathon, for now! I’ll make another post about this when it’s over, talking about how it was my first readathon ever! ❤ Thanks again for inviting me, Lindsey, and thanks to you, that is reading the blog 😀
