Book author: L. J. Smith

Hi, there! Welcome to my now monthly Authors of my Heart ❤ section! As last week we had a manga author, today we will have a book author 🙂 Who? L. J. Smith!

l. j. smith.jpg

I haven’t read as many books from her as I’d like, but this is the brilliant mind behind the creation of Damon Salvatore. It was necessary to bring her to this section asap!

damon confident smile.gif

I’ve met L. J. Smith on 2009, when The Vampire Diaries was brought to Brazil and the tv show was beginning. I’ve devoured all volumes like crazy, already madly in love with Damon, and then I started to watch the show and I was struck for life.

he's really really hot

I’ve bought the first volume of the Night World series compilation on the same year, but as I have a problem with physically big books, I postponed reading it until last December. Oh boy, I didn’t know what I was missing. Then, I decided that Smith was an auto-buy author, as I’m in love with her writing style ❤

Here you can see both series:

from my Instagram 🙂

The Vampire Diaries series has captured the hearts and imaginations of hundreds of thousands of fans-and the new CW show that it inspired promises to introduce millions more to the chills, thrills and star-crossed love that has captivated so many readers. In The Awakening, the first volume of this bestselling series, Elena Gilbert is a golden girl used to getting anything that she wants, particularly when it comes to attracting guys. That is until she meets handsome, haunted Stefan, who struggles to resist her because of his dark secret: Stefan is a vampire. Stefan is torn by guilt from his past and living with the threat of his dark, dangerous vampire brother, Damon s return. Soon Elena finds herself in a love triangle between two vampire brothers and it could turn deadly.

Manga author: Kaori Yuki

Hi, there! Welcome to March’s first edition of Authors of my Heart ❤

Today is manga author day, so next Friday we will see a book author 🙂

Today’s mangaka is a very special one, as she is responsible for truly defining the kind of art that I prefer on my manga titles. You’d think it was Matsuri Hino, but no lol

It was Kaori Yuki-sensei!

kaori yuki

As you may have already read in this post, we’ve met in 2005, as soon as Panini Comics released Angel Sanctuary here in Brazil and I was hooked since page one. On the first time that I’ve read this series, what kept me loving this series was Yuki-sensei’s art, as I didn’t understand most of what was happening (and with reason; I was 10 and the title is rated 16+ lol). I only really understood this series on its core when I re-read it, five years later.

Kaori Yuki has several series and oneshots under her name and I’m ashamed to say that I found this out writing this post. I only knew the titles that I had read and two tbr series from her. I’m a lousy excuse for a fan, I know :/ The awesome part is that I have several titles to read from her now ❤

Anyway, let’s talk about what I have read:

angel sanctuary.JPG

Goodreads’ blurb:

The angel Alexiel loved God, but she rebelled against Heaven when she saw how disgracefully the other angels were behaving. She was finally captured, and as punishment sent to Earth to live an endless series of tragic lives. She now inhabits the body of Setsuna Mudo, a troubled teen in love with his sister Sara. Setsuna’s misery mirrors the chaos among the angels, and their combined passions threaten to destroy both Heaven and Earth.

Why is Setsuna so mixed up? Despite his attempts to be noble, he’ll fight anyone anytime; he ignores all authority; and he harbors feelings for his sister that can only be described as “incestuous.” Why is he such a mess? The reason may be found with two demons from the underworld and their enemy, an insane angel who is distributing an insidious computer game called Angel Santuary.

The first one we never forget, right? One of my favorite things about this title is the characters dynamics. They are so real and their relationships (not only amorous ones) are always so fogged, so… Grey. Seriously, just read this, haha!

conde cain

Goodreads’ blurb:

Born under an evil moon harboring dark secrets, Earl Cain C. Hargreves, the youthful heir of the aristocratic Hargreves family, is a man on a quest to find the truth about his family’s past. Written in dark, harrowing episodes, The CAIN Saga chronicles how Cain solves the strange crimes that seem to plague his cursed existence, yet somehow bring him closer to deciphering the puzzling circumstances surrounding his father’s tragic death.

I spoke of this one very recently, so I’ll just add that I love the mysteries that Cain has on his hands during this series!

  • Boy’s Next Door

boy's next door

Goodreads’ blurb:

Lawrence is a young male prostitute whose actual aim was to look for his brother. Unknowingly, he did find his brother – the owner of the young boys prostitute club. However, his life was about to change when he witnessed the killing of one of the biggest serial killers – Dr. Wolfgang Adrain Cray. Instead of running away, he searches for the murderer and falls in love with him. Adrian, who is basically a nice person (he is a school teacher) takes in Lawrence and reciprocates Lawrence s love. but Lawrence s brother was not too happy about losing a possible money tree and sends out his gang in search of Lawrence.

You may have noticed that Kaori Yuki’s stories tend to not win the happy manga of the year prize, right? Oh well, on Boy’s Next Door, she outdoes herself. I’m not usually one to cry while reading manga, but I did here. I felt the pain, the agony, the crushed love. I really would love to re-read this title and review it, but I don’t know if I am strong enough. What awaits me is too real…

That’s it about Yuki-sensei ❤ I also innovated this time and prepared a list with my TBR list of her titles:

Thank you for reading 😀 If any of my TBR titles of this post caught your eye and you want a review for it, just say so in the comments that I’ll work faster towards the chosen title 😀

Manga author: Arina Tanemura

Hello, good Monday to you! I’ll do a proper announcement post later, but there are some changes on my blog sections and weekly posting 🙂 The first one I’ll tell you here, but you may have already noticed: the section Authors from my Heart ❤ will now be a monthly deal. On the second week of the month, we will have Book Authors and on the third, Manga Authors. I was running out of authors, haha! lol

Now, to the point: manga author chosen for today! It’s no one less than Arina Tanemura *–*

arina tanemura

We have met when the anime for Full Moon wo Sagashite was released and my friend and I ran to start watching it. The songs were a blast, the art was cute and we loved the characters. It had an unexpected dark and dramatic turn, but it was worth-watching and, to this day, it’s one of my favorite animes ever! ❤ And, as I loved the anime so much, I started to read her works online – Tanemura-sensei’s work would only start to be published in Brazil on 2009, but at least they started by Full Moon! *–* (I still have to complete my collection, though. Ugh!).

Those are the titles that I have read from her so far:

  • Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne

jeanne arina.jpg

Goodreads’ blurb:

By day, Kusakabe Maron is an ordinary high school girl with more then her share of problems. But by night, she is Phantom Thief Jeanne. As the reincarnation of Joan of Arc, her mission is to steal demon-possessed paintings and neutralize their evil. Jeanne’s only ally is the angel-in-training Finn. Together, they must fight evil by night while surviving high school by day.

Ironically, my first read title from her wasn’t Full Moon, haha! It was Jeanne. I admit that I don’t remember ANYTHING, so I guess this is a must re-read, haha!

  • I.O.N

ion.jpg

Goodreads’ blurb:

Ion Tsuburagi chants the letters of her first name as a charm to bring good luck when she needs it. Then she meets Mikado Hourai, the president of the Psychic Powers Research Society at school, and touches a mysterious substance he’s been developing. Now chanting “I-O-N” gives her telekinetic powers!

My second read was this one shot, I.O.N. I remember that I wasn’t impressed despite its cuteness, but I have the impression that this will be another post were I don’t remember anything about the mangas I’ve read…

  • Full Moon wo Sagashite

full moon.jpg

Goodreads’ blurb:

In this bittersweet tale of puppy love, tragedy, and aspirations of pop-star fame, 12-year-old Mitsuki’s life finds hope when a comical pair of magical beings appears. Rated for teens.

So helpful. Yes, Full Moon was my third title from Tanemura-sensei and easily my favorite one, haha! This is a rare case in which I think the anime is better than the manga, but I liked reading it nevertheless. I highly recommend it if you like shoujo [romance], comedy, drama and fashion – Tanemura-sensei’s clothes are sooooo pretty!

  • The Gentlemen’s Alliance

the gentlemen's alliance.jpg

Goodreads’ blurb:

In return for a business loan of 50 million yen, the prestigious Kamiya family gave their daughter Haine away to the Otomiya family. Haine, now an Otomiya, is appointed to the student council of the exclusive Imperial Academy, a private school for the aristocracy. Even though Haine is of proper lineage to be on the council, she finds herself struggling to find her place among the many secrets of its elite members, especially those of the president who holds her heart–Shizumasa Togu, aka “the Emperor.”

Another title in which I remember nothing, but I have to be fair: I was able to buy only the first volume when this was published in Brazil and now it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to complete my collection 😦 Damn you, Brazilian market! I still want to finish reading this! Hm, restarting may be a better word.

  • Vampire Rose

vampire rose.jpg

Goodreads’ blurb:

“Supernatural things don’t exist in this world!” Kaho Mira absolutely hates all things supernatural, so why does Hikaru-sempai keep persuing her to join the Supernatural Research Club?! But one day, Mira barely escaped the clutches of the White Rose Academy vampire, Rose. Now, she had no choice but to join the Supernatural Research Club with Hikaru-sempai for help! And they unravel much more about Rose they never knew before…

After years (I mean it literally), I would only pick up a title from Tanemura-sensei again last year and my chosen one was this one shot. It was lovely! A sugared-romance like all her works, but with a bit of mystery on it. A nice 4 stars read 😀

  • Idol Dreams

25111324

Goodreads’ blurb:

At age 31, office worker Chikage Deguchi feels she missed her chances at love and success. When word gets out that she’s a virgin, Chikage is humiliated and wishes she could turn back time to when she was still young and popular. She takes an experimental drug that changes her appearance back to when she was 15. Now Chikage is determined to pursue everything she missed out on all those years ago—including becoming a star!

And right after Vampire Rose, I read the first volume of Idol Dreams. This struck me as a cute and deep series, but I still need to read more before form an opinion. Sadly, I couldn’t find the next one yet, ugh!

I’m still considering if I’ll continue to read new works of Tanemura-sensei, since my interests nowadays lay on yaoi titles filled with hot sex scenes other kinds of titles. Let’s see what the future holds for our relationship, Tanemura-sensei! ;D

Book Author: Alexandre Dumas

Good morning and good Tuesday! 😀 In Brazil, we are having our annually Carnival, a holiday that started on Saturday, February 6th, and ends today. It is very weird to not have anything to do after a Carnival, like classes or work, but I think I can manage, haha!

Anyway, today is Authors from my Heart ❤ day! I’m aware that I skipped the manga author last week and I apologize. The post will go live on February 22th, a Monday, as there won’t be Match Made in Mondays in the foreseeable future and I will join another weekly meme. Which one? You will find out later today ;D

But let’s go back to today’s post! The author chosen is my first male, Alexandre Dumas!

alexandredumas.JPG

We first met when I was on elementary school, on 2003. We had to read The Three Musketeers for our Portuguese class and I fell in love, even being a child. Soon enough, I had read The Man in The Iron Mask and his version of Robin Hood. All books are in a sore need for a re-read, haha! Besides, I still want to read The Count of Monte Cristo.

c675e75ca253491c84ac65f01120e812.jpg

My first book from him, that led me into watching The Man in the Iron Mask, that 1998’s movie with Leonardo DiCaprio (btw, that movie rocks hard!), and that started my love for his works ❤

51kt8mwqYOL._SX332_BO1,204,203,200_

I’m fairly positive that the version that I have read of Robin Hood was his version, but as I was too young and the book was borrowed from my school library, I’ll never know. Anyway, it was my second, as the Robin Hood made by Disney set some priorities among his works in my childish mind, haha!

0451525647

My last read book from Alexandre, as the end left me heart broken. As a child, I didn’t understand that movies could take liberties from their books, so I was expecting a happy decent enough end. Eh, no. Not at all. I cried a river that day and decided I needed a break from Alexandre, haha! A 13 years break so far, but okay.

Now, hopefully I’ll have the heart to read The Count of Monte Cristo, haha!

Thank you for reading! Do you like Alexandre Dumas’ books?

Book author: Emily Rodda

Hi, there! Sorry for the really late post, I’m still not adjusted to my home yet. Every time I travel or come back after travelling, I get a little lost on my own schedules. So far, only my blog and my laundry are severe damage. But I hope to get both on track, haha!

As we are back on track, today is book author day on the Authors from my Heart ❤ section! The chosen one is a very special figure from my childhood that made me fall in love with adventure and dystopian books – you know, before they became the new vampires, lol. Don’t get me wrong, I love when the subjects that I like are the new fashion, as I can discover more books and goodies from them, but it happens, haha!

6989992_orig

We have met through a friend that I also talk about here when doing manga reviews, as she is guilty of showing me the hottest titles in town. Yes, Hachiyumi once again! I love you, girl! ❤ So, somewhere between 2004 and 2005, Hachi tells me about this very interesting book that she had read and raise my interest, as she was never a hardcore book reader as I am. She had the book, so I borrowed it: The Forests of Silence, first book in the Deltora Quest series.

And that’s how my love for her was born ❤ I have read all three Deltora Quest series and am currently reading Rowan of Rin series. Usually, I’d choose an author that: a) I have already read at least three distinct works; b) or three distinct series. But as I have been in love with Emily since I’m a kid and Deltora Quest has three series of its own, I thought it would be nice to do this small tribute to her work 🙂

Let’s go now!

2016-01-02 01_56_38-Annelise Lestrange no Instagram_ “Day 22 of #jenacidebydecember2015 was Fantasy_
from my Instagram 😀

This is where it all started. I remember reading her books so fast that my mom got depressed in buying them for me, haha! She only got over it when she realized that I loved re-reading them ❤ And I was head over heels when I discovered the following series, haha!

Honestly, if you like adventure and character development on dystopian worlds, just read this series. I think it’s one of those ageless books 😀

IMG_5352
Book two from the series beside my paperback copy of All In With The Duke ❤

I’ve only read books one and two so far, but I am hooked. I started to read as soon as it was published on my country, but the national delay made me forget all about this series until last year, when I bought book three. Now I’ll re-read the first ones and read the third, haha! And then hunt for the others, ugh. Anyway, another lovely series!

[UPDATE: read my review for Rowan of Rin here!]

That’s it, thanks for reading! Sorry, the post got small, but I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t included Emily Rodda on this section ❤

Manga author: Yuu Watase

Hi, good morning! First of all I have to say that I’m very pleased with life, as I’m going home on Sunday ❤ I miss my dog and my books, despite all the fun I’m having at my uncle’s. Nothing like home, right? 🙂

Anyway, today’s post is from my Authors of my Heart ❤ section and it’s another manga author, as I got confused with my own posting schedule and did two book authors in a roll. Next week, its book author again and everything will fall back into place, haha!

The chosen one? Yuu Watase-sensei!

732829

I didn’t found a larger picture, I’m sorry D:

We met after Fushigi Yugi was published in Brazil. The series was published in 2002, but I believe that I only started to read it somewhere between 2003 and 2004, as I read my first manga in 2003. Regardless of the accuracy on my chronological history, it was love at first sight. Also, as you may recall from this post, Yuu Watase is the author of the manga series that originated my first anime in Japanese with subtitles: Ayashi no Ceres 😀

Without anymore gibber jabber, let’s go to the list:

19728531

Goodreads’ Blurb:

When best friends Miaka and Yui open the pages of an ancient Chinese book, they are transported into the Universe of the Four Gods, a parallel world to ancient China. Now, to escape schoolwork and family problems, Miaka flees to the parallel world, only to find a lot more danger and romance than she bargained for.

This manga has the perfect balance between romance, mystery, adventure, dystopian, drama and comedy, besides awesome characters and handsome villains. There is no way you won’t love it too!

IMG_6736
from my Instagram 😀

Goodreads blurb:

Aya and her twin brother Aki thought they were going to a celebration of their sixteenth birthday at their grandfather’s home, but the funeral-like atmosphere tips them off that something’s not right. Their “birthday present” turns out to be a mummified hand–the power of which forces an awakening within Aya, and painful wounds all over Aki’s body! Grandfather Mikage announces that Aki will be heir to the Mikage fortune, and Aya must die! But Aya has allies in the athletic cook and martial artist Yûhi, and the attractive, mysterious Tôya. But can even two handsome and resourceful guys save Aya when it’s her own power that’s out of control?

I already talked a lot about this series, so let’s just do a quick recap with the main message behind my compliments: if you like shoujo (a.k.a. romance) and drama, just read it!

856917

Shy high school student Riko Izawa aches for a boyfriend but guys just won’t look her way. Then one day she signs up for a three-day trial of a mysterious “lover figurine,” and the next thing she knows, a cute naked guy is delivered to her doorstep–and he wants to be her boyfriend!

Has Riko died and gone to heaven? The cute naked guy turns out to be smart, super nice, stylish and a gourmet chef. Plus, he looks like a million bucks…. Trouble is, that’s about what he’s going to cost Riko because she didn’t return him in time!

This series is so funny! It made me wish I was rich to have a boyfriend of my own built for me, literally, haha! Also, it awakens big reflections about society and human behavior, plus made me cry several times in the end, despite it being somewhat happy. Another good combination of shoujo, drama, comedy and a touch of sci-fi.

6801586
yup, the cover is on the vertical for some weird reason

In a mythical world where humans and gods co-exist, Arata has the unfortunate honor of being the successor to the matriarchal Hime Clan. This means he has to pretend to be a girl or face death if his true gender is discovered! On the day of his inauguration, an assassination plot forces him to flee—and he somehow winds up in modern-day Japan! Meanwhile, a boy named Arata Hinohara gets sucked into the first Arata’s world and finds himself dealing with people after his life!

This was my last series from her, I read it last year and only volume one – I’ve had it for quite a while sitting on my shelf, so I decided to give it a go and discover if I was going to continue the collection. For the record, I WILL! It was amazing! This one is a shonen (a.k.a. adventure/action) title, very different from what I had read from Watase-sensei so far. I loved the start, can’t wait to read more ❤

That’s it! Thanks for reading ❤ Now I have to figure out who shall be my next book author, haha!

Manga author: Ayano Yamane

Hi, there! Hope you’re having a fantastic week just like me! If you are not, I’m sorry to hear that, but hang in there because Friday is coming 😀

Today is manga author’s day at Authors from my Heart ❤ The chosen one is a woman that has my heart since page one of my first read title: Ayano Yamane!

150338

I just would like to say that I had no idea she was so beautiful before making this post, haha! *o*

Anyway, we have met in the internet a few years back, as Yamane-sensei likes to write yaoi manga (aka gay mangas) and I like to read them ;D My first title from her was a short story called The Guide of Love, but I only really started to love her after reading the Finder series. Hold that thought, as I will explain myself better, haha!

One of my literary goals for 2016 is to read all her manga series, haha! I don’t know if I will be able to fullfill this, but I shall try my best ❤

Now, let’s talk about what I have read from her! We have a series, a one shot and two short stories 🙂

13416784

Goodreads’ blurb:

Takaoka has always been smooth with the ladies, but has yet to find someone he truly cares for. While sent to a marriage counselor by his mother, he comes upon Yoshizawa, who works as a matchmaker. A cute twist of fate brings the two lovelorn men together.

This story is cuteness all over! I remember that I really liked it since the first time that I first read it, a few years ago. Re-reading it in 2015, I was sure that it was one of the best short stories ever! Really, this manga is a shoujo with two boys (shoujo = sweet romance).

257154

Goodreads’ blurb:

During a routine journalism assignment, Akihito Takara is captured by the mysterious Asami, a powerful leader in Japan’s underworld society. Asami forces his captive to undergo a night of pleasure and pain never before imagined, but before long, the son of a powerful Chinese mafia boss also sets his sights upon Akihito, demanding the critical evidence he’s uncovered-or is it something else about him he seeks?

This is one of my all time favorite manga series ever and here my love affair with Yamane-sensei began. One of the main characters is a journalist, so I hit it off with him instantly. And his lover just happens to be a really dangerous member of Japan’s underground society. Plus, their love is born out of hate, one of my favorite elements ever. I won’t lie, this is a very heavy series and sometimes it can be overhealming, but I am already too involved with it all to let it go.

tumblr_inline_n56ajsHdWc1r529ae

Ahem.

1433827

Goodreads’ blurb:

Japanese yakuza clan heir Ranmaru just got married on a lavish cruise ship, but things aren’t as they seem. The marriage is just for the appearances, and heends up getting drunk and spending the night… not with his bride, but with thesexy ship captain! When the two men meet again in Italy, it is the start of aspectacular love story.

This is my second favorite title from Yamane-sensei. It follows Finder’s style and its end made me cry for hours, so it’s a wonder how I love this so much, haha! I usually have a low tollerance for drama as a genre, but this one shot it so beautifully writen and drawn that I couldn’t resist. And I loved the couple, so I’m simply a goner, oops!

15743314

Goodreads’ blurb:

The grandson of a commissioner absconds and force a police officer to take him in.

This is another short story and didn’t really got to my tastes as the other titles from Yamane-sensei. I have never been a fan of the cat/dog sexual fantasy in either genres, so this title wasn’t really for me, haha!

Aside from what I have already read, Ayano also has another long series, a couple of oneshots and several short stories, so I still have much fun ahead of me, haha! Thank God ❤

That’s it, thanks for reading! Were you familiar with Ayano’s work??

PS: As I have explained on the last Authors from my Heart ❤ post, next week particularly we will have another manga author, okay? 🙂

Book author: J. L. Langley

Good morning, guys! First Tuesday of the year and my first Authors of my Heart ❤ post! The chosen one was J. L. Langley, as she is oh-so-awesome 😀

jl_langley

I already told how I met J. L. Langley on this post, so I’ll just talk about her books, okay? 🙂

J. L. Langley has four book series and is currently working (cof for ages cof) in two new books. I’m hopping she ends at least one of them by the end of this year, but she is a slow writer and one can’t hush perfection. Anyway, haha!

IMG_6739
from my Instagram 😀

This was my first series by her and I still love the first book, The Tin Star ❤ Gay cowboys?

tumblr_niuyi1PMN31u8sinro4_500
YES, PLEASE

This series has two books and one short story and it’s complete. I liked the other two books as well, but the first one usually is the most especial one, haha!

6699034

This series has one book and an apparently coming soon volume, but I won’t put my hand into the fire for this release, haha! I loved the first book, it’s also cowboy themed ❤

696820

This is Langley’s longest and biggest series, with a short book, three long ones, five short stories and a coming soon long book 🙂 I have already read all of them and my favorite is With Abandon ❤

2403922

This is Langley’s second biggest and longest series, haha! It was the last one I have read because I was reticent with the sci-fi element – which worked amazingly good, haha! One of my favorite books from her so far it’s from here, My Regelence Rake ❤ Oh, this series has three long books and a fourth coming soon plus four short stories 😀

That’s it, guys! Thanks for reading 😀 I promise I’ll try to write my review for Daughters of Darkness later today, haha!

Ps: I just realized that I skipped a Manga author week, so the next two Authors from my Heart will be mangakas, okay? Then we go back to regular schedule, haha!

Book Author: Sally MacKenzie

Hi, there! LAST THURSDAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS, OMG! *–* We are almost there, I can’t wait to be with my family and wake up with my presents on the foot of my bed!

Anyway, it’s Authors from my Heart ❤ day, book author week!

The chosen one was Sally MacKenzie, a sugared historical romances author!

Sally Mackenzie
Sally Mackenzie ❤

We met in the end of last year, on October, when I downloaded one of her books from free at iBooks. It was The Duchess of Love, prequel to the homonymous series. I enjoyed myself immensely reading it and convinced my dad to purchase me the whole series.

tumblr_lldlr3z8oK1qdth1ho1_400

After finish that, I knew I loved her and bought myself a bunch with the whole series of Naked Nobility, books 1 to 7 minus short stories (which I still have to buy, ugh). The first book is brilliant and one of my favorite sugared historical romances ever, but I acquired a serious problem with Sally. Can you believe that 99% on her villains on this series are gay men?! I mean, come on! This got old fast! I’m not saying that you need to be supportive of their cause, but you don’t have to turn them into villains. And it wasn’t just a coincidence. In the stories, you could see that Sally hinted that the villains’ sick personality was due their sexual orientation.

Sally, I still love you, but just stop.

Anyway, she has only three published series so far: Duchess of Love, Naked Nobility and Spinster House. I’ve read one and three quarters out of three, haha! I guess I can call myself a fan despite our differences 😀

Now, let’s talk about her works:

IMG_6876
from my Instagram!

This was my first series and it is a 5 stars one, without doubts. Really well written, with wonderful characters and twisted plots, I couldn’t stop reading, haha! By the way, I talked a little about the last book in this post 🙂

{EB348FF1-D7D7-42FC-8509-3DCE4CC5D383}Img400

This series for me was like a graphic: my evaluations kept changing from book to book, from five to two stars, haha! I’m going to make a list here, as we are talking about so many titles:

The Naked Duke (NN #1): 5 stars (cof and my personal favorite of this series cof)

The Naked Baron (NN #2): 4 stars

The Naked Laird (NN #2.5): to-read, oops! Haha 😉

The Naked Marquis (NN #3): 3 stars

The Naked Earl (NN #4): 3 stars

The Naked Viscount (NN #5): 5 stars!

Layout 1

The Naked Gentleman (NN #6): 2 stars…

The Naked Prince (NN #6.5): to-read too, oops!

The Naked King (NN #7): 5 stars!

9447746

I’m sorry I don’t have reviews for any of those books, truly. Maybe next year I’ll re-read them ❤

That’s it! Thanks for reading ❤ Do you like sugared historical romances? Someone else here is a fan of Sally MacKenzie? o/

Manga author: CLAMP

Hi, there! Good morning 😀 Today is Authors from my Heart <3, manga section! The chosen one was a group responsible for my entry on this world: CLAMP!

Clamp_at_Anime_Expo_2006
CLAMP group back in 2006 😀

We first met in 2003, which was my official year of manga discovering (thanks, Rachel!). My first title from CLAMP was Chobits and I regret nothing ❤ I’ve read almost all their works (some not until the end, I confess), so I have a clinical eye for them. Strongest point is, for sure, the art and the clothing in all titles. Seriously, these women are AWESOME. Their plots are a bit temperamental, but I never outright hated anything, so I guess this is a plus. Weak point: subliminal messages. SUBLIMINAL MESSENGERS EVERYWHERE. Read Card Captor Sakura or Wish, YOU SHALL UNDERSTAND MY MEANING. And, at the same time that is very cool, it can be so frustrating! CLAMP is not known for sheets action, if you catch my drift, so we fans have to resource to dousjinshis to see what we want from any couple, hetero or homosexual 😦

Anyway, I’ve read 13 series from them until now and I promise to try to put them in chronological order of appearance in my life (or something that approaches that, haha!)

Warning: this post is huge. Sorry about that, haha!

Goodreads blurb:

Chi isn’t your average humanoid computer. She can’t do word processing, she can’t connect to the Internet, and she’s incapable of networking with other persocoms. Even her sound card seems broken. No wonder Hideki found her tied up in a pile of trash. But when the 19-year-old technophobe takes her home, he finds that she may be more advanced than her childlike behavior lets on.

The first one is always special, even not being the best. Already talked more about it here 🙂

  • Card Captors Sakura

Goodreads blurb:

From CLAMP comes the thrilling adventures of Sakura, a fourth-grader who accidentally finds an enchanted book called The Clow. The book once contained a set of magical Clow Cards, but they all escaped while the guardian of the book fell asleep. Now, Sakura is thrust into a mystical journey to capture all the cards before they wreak chaos and destruction!

I’ve watched the anime on TV for years before getting to ready this title and it’s even better on manga ❤ CLAMP’s art is something astonishingly beautiful. My first yaoi couple comes from this series, in the form of Touya and Yukito. They were clearly boyfriends, but damn CLAMP and their subliminal messages! I only realized that years after, ugh. Still, they are adorable together:

  • Magic Knight Rayearth

62309

Goodreads blurb:

Hikaru, Umi and Fuu are Tokyo schoolgirls with nothing else in common, until one fateful day changes everything: the three are summoned to the magical realm of Cephiro and find that their lives are inexorably intertwined. Princess Emeraude, whose willpower keeps Cephiro safe, has been kidnapped by the sinister Zagato, and the three girls must become the legendary Magic Knights in order to save her. It’s not going to be easy, as Zagato has sent his most powerful minions to stop the girls before they can fulfill their destinies. Protected by an ancient wizard’s blessing and determined to find their way home, Hikaru, Umi and Fuu begin the adventure of a lifetime!

This series is quite nice, but I confess it requires a re-read on my part, as I barely remember anything beyond the three main characters, oops!

  • XXX 1999

31983

Goodreads blurb:

As part of the X/1999 series, this volume features breathless action and stunning art. When Kamui returns to Tokyo, he learns that his childhood girlfriend Kotori and psychic Princess Hitoni are having strange dreams about his role in a coming apocalypse! Is he the angel of salvation, or the devil of destruction?

To be honest, I barely remember this series either. I’ve read it on 2003 or 2004 and only once, so this needs a re-read, haha!

  • Angelic Layer

485098

Goodreads blurb:

Angelic Layer is sweeping the nation! In the newest electronic sport, players enter their Angels in tournaments and battle for fortune and glory. Twelve-year-old Misaki just discovered Angelic Layer, and she’s already captivated by the game. But building a winning Angel takes money and experience, and Misaki’s short on both counts. With the help of a crazy scientist and a very special Angel of her own, she’ll give it her all to win the Angelic Layer crown.

This series is a sweetie! I love it so much! Its catch is similar to Chobits, in a way, as there is robots and common characters (oh yeah, they looove to do that and we love to spy their Easter eggs, haha!)

  • Tokyo Babylon

1188364

Goodreads blurb:

Tokyo. The cultural and economic hub of the Eastern world. Not unlike the legendary city of Babylon, its man-made tower stretches toward the heavens … a symbol of its people’s ambition and their indomitable spirit. Nowhere on Earth will you find such vanity … or such beauty.

This is my home.

My name is Sumeragi Subaru, and I hunt the dead. Then I return them to peace.

No matter where my work leads me, I suspect I’ll never leave Tokyo in spirit. But then again, it seems so few people do these days…

If I remember correctly, this series is a kind of prequel for X 1999, but I’m not sure. Again, only read once in 2004/2005, haha! I need to re-read many things…

  • XXX-Holic

228063

Goodreads blurb:

Watanuki Kimihiro is haunted by visions of ghosts and spirits. Seemingly by chance, he encounters a mysterious witch named Yuuko, who claims she can help. In desperation, he accepts, but realizes that he’s just been tricked into working for Yuuko in order to pay off the cost of her services. Soon he’s employed in her little shop–a job which turns out to be nothing like his previous work experience.
Most of Yuuko’s customers live in Japan, but Yuko and Watanuki are about to have some unusual visitors named Sakura and Syaoran from a land called Clow…

This series crosses paths with the next of the list, Tsubasa. I didn’t finish either, but I always liked Holic best ❤ Yuuko is amazing and I love the bromance between Watanuki and Domeki, haha!

  • Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle

13570

Goodreads blurb:

SAKURA AND SYAORAN RETURN!
But they’re not the people you know. Sakura is the princess of Clow – and possessor of a mysterious, misunderstood power that promises to change the world. Syaoran is her childhood friend and leader of the archaeological dig that took his father’s life. They reside in an alternate reality…where whatever you least expect can happen – and does. When Sakura ventures to the dig site to declare her love for Syaoran, a puzzling symbol is uncovered – which triggers a remarkable quest. Now Syaoran embarks upon a desperate journey through other worlds – all in the name of saving Sakura.

I’m not the biggest fan of this series and I had never the opportunity of finishing it either, but I liked Phi and Kurogane (me and my males, I know). And the fact that here and there CLAMP made Tsubasa and Holic cross paths was super cool, haha! I need to re-read and finish this…

  • Clamp School Detectives

262853

Goodreads blurb:

A trio of pre-teen sleuths made up of: 6’th grader Nokoru Imonoyama– Student Body president– his family built the CLAMP school and he’s the top student in his school. He has the superhuman ability to detect a woman crying from 2 km away!; Suoh Takamura- 5’th Grader –Student Body Secretary– A master martial artist with 3rd degree blackbelts in Judo, Aikido, Karate, and Kendo.; 4’th grader Akira Ijyuin — A master thief, also known as the Man of 20 Faces. He’s popular with the ladies, and is currently dating the president of the Kindergarten. Together they are the Clamp School detectives and they help girls in distress around the campus.

THIS SERIES IS SO CUTE! Plus, one of the boys is the main character of Man of Many Faces ❤ Please, don’t kick me, as a great deal of those series (including this one) were read in my late childhood and teenies…

  • Murikuri

18138973

Goodreads blurb [translated because the only available edition was in Spanish]:

An anthology with several short stories created by CLAMP, which portrays a series of closed worries in a funny way.

This was a bit weird and not really funny, but okay. I survived and now I pretend this does not exists.

  • Wish
IMG_3832
from my Instagram!

Goodreads blurb:

When Shuichiro rescues an angel he is granted a single wish. The problem? Shuichiro can’t think of any wishes that he couldn’t grant himself. Refusing to leave Shuichiro without granting a wish Amber, the angel, moves in with the young doctor to help out around the house and wait for a chance to return the favor. Of course, angels aren’t the only supernatural beings wandering the Earth. Soon, demons and archangels alike are stopping by Shuichiro’s house, making things difficult for his angelic roommate.

THIS MANGA IS CUTENESS ALL OVER! Nothing prepared me for it, really. It’s the series that best approaches boys love, but not there yet as we barely get light kisses, ugh. But most parties involved are males, so I guess it’s a start? One of my favorite series from CLAMP!

  • Miyuki-Chan in Wonderland

395640

Goodreads blurb:

There are many worlds in the universe outside of our own, connected by doors that are hidden to the eye. but if you chance upon those doors, you can be transported to a place where supple beauties reign supreme and all of your fantasies come allve. Should you pass through the doorways, be most careful, for the creatures you will meet can be as dangerous as they are beautiful. Many would die for a glimpse at those worlds–Miyuki would do anything to have them go away.

If you ask me, this series of short stories with poor Miyuki is awful and creepy, haha! I didn’t really like it.

  • Man of Many Faces

262848

Goodreads blurb:

Akira ljyuln lives a double life as a top student at Clamp School and as the infamous thief 20 Faces. He steals at the whim of his two crime lord mothers until his life is changed forever by a chance meeting with the lovely Utako. Featuring cameos by other Clamp School characters, Man of Many Faces is a romance that spans years, as childhood crush turns to true love. An absolute must that no Clamp fan can do without.

I loved this series! It was oh-so-cute and funny! Despite being an old title, it was only released in Brazil in 2014, so I didn’t know it. Now it’s one of my favorites ❤ SO. CUTE. Cute defines CLAMP very well. Cute and creepy, haha! Review here 🙂

  • The One I Love

238268

Goodreads blurb:

Drawing on CLAMP’s own personal experiences, The One I Love provides insight both into the creators’ own lives, and into the oft-elusive concept of Love itself.

This intimate collection of short stories and essays doesn’t skirt issues at the heart of the matter such as insecurity, honesty, distance, independence, age, and – of course – marriage.

This one-volume anthology comprises 12 individual stories, each of which consists of seven pages of manga and two pages of prose.

I’m very sad to say that this was the last work from CLAMP that I got to know and read for now and that, despite its cute proposal, I found it very boring… I feel so guilty, haha!

CLAMP has several other works, but I guess it doesn’t make sense for me to talk about those titles if I didn’t read them. (Actually, there are some titles in this list already that could have been cut because I can’t remember shit about them, haha!) My point is, I love CLAMP and can’t wait to read more series from them ❤

That’s it! Thanks for reading 😀 Do you know / like CLAMP’s series??
