Every animal can talk to you. You just have to know how to listen.

Pepper Neely is better at this than most, especially because she is in charge of pet sitting all the familiars in her neighborhood. A familiar is a pet magically linked to a witch or warlock. As a gnome, Pepper is no stranger to spells and sorcery. She also knows that, despite their special name, familiars aren’t all that different from regular animals. They get anxious when separated from their people, so Pepper uses her special gnome powers to calm them down. She watches Cranky the high-strung ferret, Frank the laid-back parrot, King Arthur the elderly tortoise, and many others.

Then, something terrible begins happening to the familiars. Someone is stealing their magic! It not only prevents Pepper from communicating with them but breaks their magical connection with their people. When King Arthur’s magic is stolen, his owner’s powers stop working too. Pepper can sense that the tortoise is very scared.

In order to protect the animal’s magic, Pepper decides to track down the culprit. With the help of her best friend, Luna, and her brother, Jax, Pepper fights to protect all of the special pets.

Just remembering that those were my impressions and opinion as a reader =)

The Supernatural Petsitter was really cute, I read it practically in one sitting. Despite being a Middle Grade book, I enjoyed myself immensely with Pepper and her adventure to look for the magic thief. It gave me the breath of fresh air I needed from romances and from first person narratives, but sometimes, the narrative dragged a bit. All in all, four stars!

katy perry happy satisfied

As the spoilers indicated, the narrative was third person from Pepper’s point of view and I always find it magical to be inside a child’s or a teenie’s head. They see the world in a much simpler and fresher way, I miss that sparkle of wonder that they got. Moat portrayed Pepper very well during the narrative and even with some punctual dragging, I still found this story lovely.

i request the high fives

The characters were very true to themselves, for good and bad, and we can see them evolving and developing as the plot goes, especially Pepper and Luna. Honestly, I need a physical copy of this book to hug right now!!

THIS COVER IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND LOVELY! I fell in love with a two-lines-description and now I felt my love being justified I loved the lively style of the illustration! You can clearly see that is a middle grade book in all the good ways. The font used on the title also captured my heart, as it gave a mysterious air to the story with its gray shades without heaving on the design. Also, it’s a very clean cover in a writing sense and I loved that too.

Overall, if you like Middle Grade books, friendship themes and a lot of magical creatures on your pages, you must pick The Supernatural Petsitter ❤

4star
