Good night, lovely people! After another crazy day, I’m back for another edition of TBR of the Week! This time, the spotlight goes to The Neverland Wars, from Audrey Greathouse! I’ve first heard of this book through Jess, from the Mud and Stars, and I’ve recently received an ARC of the book from YA Bound Book Tours in exchange for an honest review =) I should be buddy-reading it with awesome Beth, from Betwixt The Pages, but my week was so crazy that I couldn’t read the number of pages we had agreed on, ugh!! Also, I may have found a delicious paranormal gay romance on my Kindle that stole my focus and ma
de me pant for a certain vampire and his oh-so-hot werewolf bodyguard. I’m useless.
Magic can do a lot—give you flight, show you mermaids, help you taste the stars, and… solve the budget crisis? That’s what the grown-ups will do with it if they ever make it to Neverland to steal its magic and bring their children home.
However, Gwen doesn’t know this. She’s just a sixteen-year-old girl with a place on the debate team and a powerful crush on Jay, the soon-to-be homecoming king. She doesn’t know her little sister could actually run away with Peter Pan, or that she might have to chase after her to bring her home safe. Gwen will find out though—and when she does, she’ll discover she’s in the middle of a looming war between Neverland and reality.
She’ll be out of place as a teenager in Neverland, but she won’t be the only one. Peter Pan’s constant treks back to the mainland have slowly aged him into adolescence as well. Soon, Gwen will have to decide whether she’s going to join impish, playful Peter in his fight for eternal youth… or if she’s going to scramble back to reality in time for the homecoming dance.
Well, this is a Peter Pan retelling, and I love retellings, and Jess told me it was awesome… Add a breathtaking cover to the mix and I was sold? Does this makes me a book hooker because I’m too easy to be convinced to read them? I’m confused, but I’m sure you’d love this book as much as I already am! Four chapters in and I’m hooked, haha! #sorrynotsorryforthepun
And that’s it! I can’t even believe this was a short post, I’m so happy, haha! Have you guys heard of this book? Any more Peter Pan retellings I should be aware of??
