The Story

Katie is the kind of woman that has no room for relationship in her life right now. She has a goal and she will achieve it: she will be a prosecutor and defend children from abuse. She will make a difference in the world. The fact that she had to move back to Belmont, the city where she grew up, is just a minor setback, due to the economic crisis. In less than one year, she’ll move out again and fulfill her dream.

James is the kind of man that has no room for relationship in his life right now. Recently out of a nine year long and deeply stressful relationship, all James wants is to have a good time and relax. To date and see women without any kind of commitment. The fact that he needs a date for his sister’s wedding is just a minor setback on his relaxed way of life. The fact that he will be taking Kate, his former date for high school prom night, makes it all easier. In less than one week, things will go back to their places.

Both didn’t even dream of what was to come…

The Analysis

Just remembering that those were my impressions and opinion as a reader 🙂

I loved The Wedding Date so much!! It is official: I like my contemporary romances with strong women, funny and gentlemen-like men, without unnecessary sex scenes and with much love and passion involved in smart dialogues ❤ Light and fun, The Wedding Date is a lovely read that I couldn’t put down until it was over. Five stars!!

The narrative style was first person with switching points of view between Kate and James. I really liked both characters, so I could pull it off. I wish I always hit it off with characters that are the narrators to their own story. My life would be so much more easier, haha!

The plot was simple and highly well executed: small-town girl comes back after years away for studying, runs into high school prom date that become a hot as hell man, he needs her help and they fall in love in the process ❤ I loved it, haha! The romance was so real, so sweet that I wanted to hug both Kate and James, haha!

I love the characters to the core: Kate was strong, decided and secure almost all time. We all have weakness and self-pity moments, but she always manage to pull herself out of the hole without much drama. Her life story is far from being a fairy tale even after James stepped in, but I do believe that they will be happily ever after on their own ways, haha! Also, James is perfect. I love men that cook. I think it’s like the sexiest trait a man can possess, really. And the fact that Kate loved to eat what other people cooked was so me that I laughed hard ❤

James is very realistic and good humored. He always have fun things to say and good stories to tell – the fact that he may be hot as hell also helps his case, I guess. He made it to My Bookish Boyfriends list easily, haha! He did all the right things but he clearly wasn’t perfect, you know?

And omg, how I wish I was a part of the Abell family. I’m not complaining, my own family can be a handful (sorry, guys, I love you!), but they were just SO FUNNY! I think I haven’t pinned for a family like this since the Weasleys when I was a child, haha!
