Confessions of a Writer Tag

Hi, there! Saturday is tag day and my dear Jess, from the Mud and Stars, tagged me in the Confessions of a Writer Tag 😀 Thank you, sweeting! Let’s do this!

Confessions of a Writer

1) When did you first start writing? Was being a writer something you always wanted to do?

Hm, I think I was around 8 or 9. I wrote down plots for Barbies plays with a friend, and I’d summarize the whole story in a page or two, as to not forget it. Later, I’d write stories with princesses and all, and then, with 12 or 13, I started to write fan fictions as well 🙂

2) What genre do you write?

Fan fiction, supernatural, mystery, historical romance, pirates… So far, that’s what I got, haha!

3) Can you tell us a little about your current work in progress? When did you start working on this project?

I have two works in progress. One is in the editing phase and it’s a fanfic about Jack Frost and Elsa, from Frozen. The other one I’m still writing, but it is also fanfic, about Legolas and Aragorn 🙂

4) What was the first piece that you can remember writing? What was it about?

I can’t remember, but I think it was some lame poem about mermaids, haha!

5) What’s the best part about writing?

I think it’s the creativity exercise. You get to take your mind elsewhere and forget about your problems. Plus, sometimes, we can’t find the book that we want to read, so we have to create it, right? 😀

6) What is the worst part about writing?

In my case, it’s finishing stories. I have a closure problem, I don’t want things to end, so I drop my projects before I finish them. Long-term things are tricky for me, but I’m working on it. I have a book and a fanfiction finished to my name, they only need editing (three, if you count Elsa and Jack’s one).

7) What’s the name of your favorite character and why? (This can be from another author or your own work. Book crushes are perfectly acceptable here as well.)

Catherine Lestrange. She is my alter ego, for say. Her name came from Catherine Zeta Jones and Belatrix Lestrange, haha! I invented her when I was seven and she never left me. Curiously, I never wrote a full story including her, haha! I have to work on that.

Catherine Zeta Jones is awesome ❤

8) How much time a day/week do you get to write? When is the best time for you to write (morning or night)? How much time a day/week do you get to write? When is the best time for you to write (morning or night)?

My writing is very sparse, unfortunately. When I’m inspired, I’ll write in literally anything with anything, This can be very troublesome, haha! But I did a lot of writing this year during my Wednesday classes at college, in which both subjects bored me to my bones, haha!

9) Did you go to college for writing? Or if you haven’t been to college yet, do you plan to?

Er, kind of. I’m a graduated Journalist, which makes me a graduated writer in a way, but I never did a specialized course for it, like Creative Writing or something.

10) What bothers you more: spelling errors, punctuation errors or grammar errors?

Grammar errors. Grammar is the minimum that you need to know about the language that you are writing a story on. Spelling errors can be fixed with Word and Punctuation is a major difficulty for almost anyone, but you need to know the grammar.

11) What is the best writing advice that anyone has given you?

To write my problems down, so I could think of them clearly. Thanks, shrink!

12) What advice would you give another writer?

Try to keep a schedule, it’s good to have one. I’m trying to do that now, haha!

13) What are your favorite writing sites or blogs that you turn to for help, tips or encouragements?

I have none because my writing is very amateur, oops!

14) Besides writing, what else do you enjoy doing? What are your hobbies?

Reading, of course, HAHA! Playing The Sims 2, listening to music and watching old cartoons on TV.

15) What is the best book you have read this year?

So far, I’ve read 211 books. I can’t possibly chose one, so a favorite books of the year post is scheduled to December 30th, okay? Haha!

16) What is the best movie you have seen this year?

Ever After, 1998. It’s the best movie of my life and I made a point of watching it several times a year ❤

17) What is you favorite book or series of all time?

Don’t. Just don’t.

18) Who is your favorite author?

AVA MARCH! (wow, big surprise, haha!)

19) What are your plans for the rest of the year in terms of your writing?

I want to, at least, finish my editing process with Elsa and Jack, haha! But that’s all…

20) Where else can we find you online?

I’m on Instagram, Goodreads, Twitter, Pinterest and Snapchat (as annebollmann616) 😀

That’s it! Thanks for reading 😀 I’m not tagging anyone because I’m not sure who is also a writer here, haha! If you are and want to do this, feel free to say that I nominated you ❤

  1. Wow, you have read so many books this year!! I am so impressed. I’ve just started my 100th book of the year, and I’m so paranoid I’m not going to finish it before new year and ruin the perfect figure haha. I love that you wrote out stories for your Barbies, that is amazing! Did you ever keep any of the stories? I used to write stories for my characters on The Sims! I’d take pictures on the camera mode and then write a story with the captions. I think they were probably really cringey and embarrassing though haha! I also have exactly the same problem as you with closure in my writing – I have sooo many projects that I started and haven’t finished yet! Really excited to read your fanfic 🙂

    • You writing for the sims is seriously cool! It’s exactly what I did to my barbies, minus the photos, haha! I do have some stored at my pc, haha! I need to revisit that – maybe I have the plot for the next big book like Harry Potter and I don’t remember 😂 Ok, just kidding! And I’m sorry I’m taking so long to send my fanfic to you, I didn’t predict this end of the year as been so busy 😭 I usually don’t have much of a social life offline (big surprise, haha!), but I’m without my own pc until january 2nd and going out every single day at least twice 😱 I’m barely reading, haha! Do you have some of your the sims stories? I’d love to see how this went if it’s not a problem 😍💖

      • Haha that made me laugh – did your Barbies attend a magical boarding school by any chance?! I think you should definitely revisit it, even if only for nostalgia! Don’t worry at all, I have had no time to write (or even blog) over Christmas and New Year either, because I’ve been so busy. I don’t have much of a social life either haha, I love staying in, but Christmas always seems to be the one time of year that’s full of parties. Haha sadly I don’t have The Sims stories, I think they were on an old ancient PC I had when I was a kid. I remember writing one about Titanic though, because I made Jack and Rose from the film as Sims. I guess that must have been an early attempt at fanfiction…

      • you know, sometimes they ACTUALLY DID LOL hahaha! And exatcly! I’m already back home, but my younger cousin came with us and this week I’m taking him to sightsee my city. As he is 15, I can’t barely breathe, haha! It’s sad that you don’t have the the sims stories anymore, but at least you have the memories, right? Haha! I think that was an early attempt to fanfiction, yes, haha! But if Rainbow Rowell, E. L. James and the After author can, WE CAN LOL

      • Barbies at Hogwarts – love it! Next big fanfiction success story in the making I think! How was the sightseeing? I always think it can be quite fun to go sightseeing in your own city as you do all the things you wouldn’t normally do/take for granted 🙂 hahaha this is so true, fanfiction is the way forward these days, I mean it has basically made E.L James a millionaire!! Ooh by the way did you get a chance to read Carry On by Rainbow Rowell yet? I think you will love it! Have you ever read After? I’ve heard it’s not good but I do have a massive One Direction obsession so I might have to read it out of curiosity!

      • I hope so, haha! It would be lovely to make money out of this passion, haha! It was marvelous! I didn’t take him to the common touristic places, as they are too crowded in this time of the year (as we are in the summer, this is our summer break. Schools and most of works only return in February). But we had a lovely time, haha! I BOUGHT CARRY ON LAST WEEK! I’ll be reading it next month or as soon as I get home. Can you believe that my parents shipped me back to mt uncle’s? I’m feeling homeless, haha! And I didn’t read After, but I got a friend that did and, as you, she is a very hard fan of 1D and loved it! I think you should try it nevertheless 😀 But I did read Fangirl and loved it! I mean, almost all of it. I hated the way it ended, but oh well. We can’t have everything, right? lol

      • Making money as a writer is definitely the dream!! 🙂 Ahh I’m so jealous of your summer – the temperature was minus 3 today in the UK, and I had to wear about 4 layers of clothing walking to the bus stop! YAY so happy you bought Carry On – hope you become as obsessed with it as I did!! Are you staying at your uncles for another whole month?! That is a long time to wait for Simon and Baz haha 😥 I wasn’t the biggest fan of the end of Fangirl either, I think it was quite slow and dragged towards the end, and I think it might have been better if she got together with Levi closer to the end, as once they were together, there wasn’t as much build up and tension which is the best bit! I think I will give After a go 😀

      • Yeah, right?! ❤ ❤ And thank you, haha! It is such a hardship to cool out in the sun and go to the pool everyday ;DD Okay, I'm just being mean. I wish I could drag you up here. The weather is delicious, as it is not killing hot, you know? Just enough warmth for pool parties, haha! And I'm not, don't worry! I think I'm staying until next week only, tops! And Carry On shall be my third book in February ❤ (I have to read two before because the third one's launch is arriving and I want to have reviews for them all by February 12th, haha!). But they are re-reads and small books, so I'll start it very soon and pester you with my fangirling ❤ ❤ And I Agree. I even wrote it on my review, I felt like Rainbow got tired of writing and shipped the book to publication as it was –" And tell me if you get to reading it, I'm curious, haha! ❤ ❤
